This was the second year of the Statehood Quarter program which also saw the introduction of the new Sacagawea Proof Dollar coin making this a ten coin set. The five State Quarters (Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire and Virginia), as well as the Kennedy Half Dollar and the Roosevelt Dime are of Copper-Nickel Clad composition. All ten coins have DEEP CAMEO contrast and are generally tone-free and mark-free Superb Gem in quality.
