| A unique souvenir cup and saucer from Shakespeare's hometown we believe to be made by Davenport. Images of "Anne Hathaway's Cottage", "Shakespeare's House From The West", and the "Stratford On Avon Church" are featured on the saucer, the church and the Bard's house on the inside of the cup. What really makes this item charming is the partial transfer that reads, "Manufactured for Mrs. Latimer's China Rooms, Stratford-on Avon" on the base of the cup. The only mark on the saucer is an impressed "D" under glaze. The set is in nice condition with no chips and one age crack on the cup. Both pieces retain most of their rim gold, and both have light crazing. Dating from the late 1800's when black and white Transferware was popular. This set is an absolute must if you collect Shakespeare or English teacups!!!! Price reflects condition. |
