This is an antique mother of pearl brooch. It has a tube hinge and a C clasp. I'm not sure what it is set in - either gold washed metal or brass. The mother of pearl has a wonderful iridescence. The brooch measures 1-1/2 inches by 1-1/4 inches. I believe this might have been a mourning brooch because of its depth. There might have been a hair compartment on the back at one time.
