This is an antique cameo brooch. It tested 14K one time I tested it and 16K the second time I tested it so I'm not certain of the gold content. It has a black and white cameo which is either sardonyx or plastic. The cameo is set below the bezel but when I look at it with a loupe it appears to be carved out of one piece. The brooch has a tube hinge with a C clasp.

| It appears that the clasp was originally horizontal but was then reset so that it is vertical. The setting has epergne d'etaille and is very ornate with scrolls and engraved flowers. It measures 1-1/4 inches long and 1-1/8 inches wide. The cameo has a comb or plume carved in her hair. There is a dark spot on one of the strands of hair coming down her neck. The spot appears to be in the stone. I believe that this brooch might have originally been a mourning brooch or had something behind the cameo so that it fit flush with the edge. The brooch is in good condition but may need polishing. I offer a 7-day money back guarantee. All methods of payment are accepted, however, checks must clear before shipping. Credit cards are accepted through PayPal. The buyer is responsible for shipping and handling costs and I am happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for stopping by. |
