This is a vintage Japanese compact marked Silver 950. It also has the artist's signature on the back but I don't read Japanese so I can't tell you the name. The compact has a picture of a snow covered mountain, hills, a sailboat in a harbor and a temple or house. The back has a hill and another boat but you can only see the sail. The mountain, hills and temple appear to have copper highlighting on them. The compact has a beveled edge mirror on the inside. The compact measures 2 inches in diameter and weighs 37.4 grams. It is in good condition with no denting but it does have an age patina that I have not polished.
