Liberty Magazine - December 1933 Tarzan, Jean Harlow Liberty magazine was an innovative creation of Captain Joseph Medill Patterson, founder of the New York Daily News and Colonel Robert Rutherford McCormack, publisher of the Chicago Tribune, the first issue appearing May 4, 1924. The periodical contained articles concerning world events of the time, features on domestic issues, general interest articles, short stories by popular authors, some of whom have since become legends and a crossword puzzle. Liberty (acquired by Bernarr McFadden in 1931) had a run of 26 years, ceasing operations in 1950.

Liberty (The Nostalgia Magazine) Vol 1 No 5 Summer 1972 Liberty magazine was an innovative creation of Captain Joseph Medill Patterson, founder of the New York Daily News and Colonel Robert Rutherford McCormack, publisher of the Chicago Tribune, the first issue appearing May 4, 1924. The periodical contained articles concerning world events of the time, features on domestic issues, general interest articles, short stories by popular authors, some of whom have since become legends and a crossword puzzle.
