This is an unusual "real photo" postcard. The family in the photo is posing on a prop inside the photographer's studio which is set up to look like they're on an actual airplane of the time. You will notice the steering wheel in the center, and if you look closely, on the lower left hand side, there is what appears to be another prop in the studio (an automobile or buggy seat?) that was mistakenly caught in the photo. Of course, the photo wouldn't be the same without the airplane wings and mountains on the backdrop which add the finishing touches to this special photograph/postcard. The potcards were probably printed up by the photographer at the request of the family for mailing to family & friends.
The card itself has some light creases, but no rips. It was mounted inside a scrapbook at one time, as there are pieces of the black page that it was mounted to (see photo). But you can still see that it was an undivided backed postcard. It is smaller than a normal postcard, measuring an unusual 3" x 4" and is quite special.
