This Precious Moments figurine, May Your Birthday Be A Blessing, is marked on the bottom: 1990 Samual J Butcher/All Rights Reserved Worldwide/Licensee Enesco Corporation/#524301, with the butterfly mark. Precious Moments, the trademark pastel-hued figurines with teardrop-shaped eyes, were created by Samuel Butcher of Missouri in 1978, with 21 figurines ("Original 21"). Sam Butcher was a preacher, and he based his creations on Christian values, naming each figurine based on either sayings from children, or deriving from their innocence. In 1974, a friend invited him to join forces and start the Jonathan & David inspirational greeting card business, utilizing the teardrop-eyed children Sam had been drawing for family and friends over the years. Sam called them "Precious Moments" because they carried messages of loving, caring and sharing to those he loved.
Beautifully detailed and in pastel colors, the little girl is holding a birthday cake and she measures 5 1/2 inches tall while the base measures 2 7/8 inches. An addition to any Precious Moments Collection.
