Limoges Paris Porcelain Souvenir Plate
This lovely souvenir collector plate of Paris is marked on the back: Limoges/Made in France/Veritable Porcelaine D'Artr (in gold). The front has cameo pictures of the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur seperated by gold flowers with a blue band with gold trim that seperates it from the gold ornate rim of the plate. In very good + condition, without chips, cracks or fleabites it measures 6 3/4 inches in diameter. An addition to any rooms decor, Souvenir or Limoges France Plate Collection. With a scene on the front of tree surrounded by 5 of God's wonderful creatures and signed by artist Claude Beyer. This beautiful Limoges plate is marked: Edouard Manet / 1832-1883 / L'Argerteuil / 1874 / Musee des Beaux Arts / de Tournay Plate by Limoges France. Edouard Manet, January 23, 1832 – April 30, 1883, was a French painter. One of the first nineteenth century artists to approach modern-life subjects, he was a pivotal figure in the transition from Realism to Impressionism. His early masterworks The Luncheon on the Grass and Olympia engendered great controversy, and served as rallying points for the young painters who would create Impressionism. Today these are considered watershed paintings that mark the genesis of modern art. It has gold gilding all around the edges of the plate and is in very good + condition without chips, cracks or fleabites and it measures 8 7/8 inches in diameter.
