Circa: 1880 Publisher: Unmarked
This Folded Victorian Valentine Day Card, made of paper and lace is from the 1880s. On the front is a young boy holding a card with 4 other cutouts attached of an angel holding flowers, 2 floral bouquets 1 saying Perfection the other Love and a large shell with flowers that says Pure Joy. There's a stamp attached inside the back cover which says: Hear My Love Only let me tell my love! Leave the rest to time and fate, Some kind planet from above, May, perhaps, your pity move. Lovers on their stars must wait, Only let me tell my love! Why, oh why, should I despair Mercy's pictured in your eye; If you once vouchsafe to hear, Welcome hope! and welcome fear! You're too good to let me die- Why, oh why, should I despair. On the back in pencil someone wrote $25- and there's glue marks that this card was attched to a gift, as I have shown in my pictures. Still in very good condition for it's age and it measures 5 3/4 inches tall and 3 7/8 inches wide. An addition to any Antique Valentines Day Card Collection. SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have questions feel free to contact me and thank you for looking.
