Circa: 1930 Publisher: Atlantic Playing Card Company/Made in USA
These playing cards advertising the Pomonok Country Club were made by the Atlantic Playing Card Company of New York. Pomonok Country Club was a country club in the Pomonok neighborhood of the New York City borough of Queens. The golf course was located between Kissena Boulevard and 164th Street, just to the south of Horace Harding Boulevard (now the Long Island Expressway) and to the east of Queens College. The club was established in 1886 by members of the Flushing Athletic Club in Flushing and moved to the Kissena Boulevard location in 1921. Devereux Emmet designed the golf course. The members disbanded and sold the course in 1949. Both decks, one orange with a silver border and one yellow with a silver border, have the PCC logo with Pomonok Country Club printed underneath and come unopened in their original cellophane packaging with 10 cent Us Int. Rev stamp on them the box shows wear from age. An addition to any Advertising Playing Card Collection. SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed.
