Circa: 1974 Manufacturer: Avon/Pointesa Ironstone/Made in Spain
This 1974 Commemorative Plate was made in Spain for Avon by Pointesa Ironstone and awarded to Representatives in 1977 and is artist signed: Anderson. Avon was strictly an American phenomenon, and a unique and pioneering one at that. The first Avon Lady was actually a man, young door-to-door salesman David McConnell from upstate New York. He launched Avon Calling in 1886, offering women cosmetics in the comfort and privacy of their own homes. By 1887, McConnell had twelve women employees selling a line of eighteen fragrances. And the numbers kept growing and growing. In 1939, California Perfume Company name changed to Avon Products, Inc. (10/6/39.) Today, despite the scores of expensive, prestigious American and foreign brand-name cosmetics, Avon ranks first in sales nationwide, with Avon Ladies ringing doorbells from coast to coast. Beautifully done with a Mother holding her newborn child with a young daughter sitting near in a meadow with white daisies all around the border. In very good + condition without chips, cracks or fleabites it comes in it's original box that shows water damage with display card and measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter. An addition to any Avon Plate Collection. SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have questions contact me and thank you for looking.
