This vintage milk glass cupped hands with a small cluster of grapes and roses and bow dish was made circa 1940 by the Westmoreland Glass Company. Marked with the WG, this piece is also known as Victoria's Hands or Queen Victoria's Hands. In the Spring of 1889 a group of investors purchased land for the purpose of constructing a new glass factory. The site located in Grapeville, Pennsylvania adjacent to the Pennsylvania Railroad main line and on a large natural gas field was to become the new home of The Westmoreland Specialty Glass Company. In 1924, the name was officially changed from the Westmoreland Specialty Glass Company to Westmoreland Glass Company, a name that continued until the plant closed in 1983. In very good + condition, without chips, cracks or fleabites it measures 1 5/8 inches tall, 5 3/4 inches wide and 7 1/2 inches long. An addition to any Milk Glass or Westmorland Glass Collection.
