201104002

Antique Hedge Trimmers w/ Wood Handles This old pair of hedge trimmers has blades that measure 11 inches long. The handles are about 1.25 inches in diameter by about 10.5 inches long and are of old hard wood. They were evidently painted blue at one time as there are some blue areas of paint left on the handles. There are rivets that hold the handle caps on to the wooden handles. The blades enter the handles through these handle caps. The handle cap were probably red, long ago, as there are still areas of red paint on one of them. the hedge trimmers open and close very smoothly, but I don't believe they are sharp enough to cut anything. They are fairly heavy...2 pounds.

010804001

Antique Metal Spokeshave These were used by mill wrights and early craftsmen to round spokes on a wheel or spindles on a staircase in the case of woodworking. We found this in my father's garage after he passed away. Many of his tools date from the 30's or earlier. No name or number on this tool but it measures approx. 9 7/8 in long by about 2.25 in wide at its widest. And the blade is very sharp! It definitely cuts skin! The jappaning on the handles is showing years of wear and there are some light rust spots. It looks like there are slanted lines near the blades on the handles, and it looks like there might have been wiriting on the jappaning. However it is worn off and even under a magnifying glass I can't make it out.

Vintage Stanley Stubby #2 Philps screwdriver This is the short (approx 3.5 in long) screwdriver made by Stanley and numbered #2. It is sometimes called "Stubby". It is numbered 2712 and I have the patent information on the blade (patent # 250723), which was an improvement on the Phillips head.I will include the copy of the information I got from the patent office about the screwdriver tip. If you are an engineer or a tool maker, you will probably be able to understand it better tha I did.

Turner Brass Blowtorch This old blowtorch is completely empty. It is made by Turner in Sycamore Il. It measures approx 9 in to the top and approx 6.5 in wide to the outside of the handle. The handle is wooden and the paint is worn on it. There is a seahook at the top for hanging that adds another inch and a half for height.I have also been told that this hook is for holding a soldering iron. It looks like there was a plate or a paper tag on the front, but it is not there now.
