Manufacturer: Meakin J and G
J & G Meakin 1912 Porcelain China Set
Everything I sell, I like. This extraordinary set of dishes I have fallen in love with! My other half says, "You're just a dish-a-holic", but this set is really wonderful.
Produced in porcelain by J & G Meakin and carrying the 1912 backstamp this set is in overall very good condition for its age with some wear to the gold trim. Some pieces are absolutely perfect while others exhibit crazing and light staining, but then I guess I would too if I were 92 years old. There are additional pieces that have darker staining in the crazing and chips which I have not included in the list but will send along if you want to try and resurrect them.
The name of this pattern is unknown to me but it is a stunner! The set has extremely light utensil wear. There are some extraordinary serving pieces that come with this set, so be sure to take a look at the pictures and if you would like another view of a piece just email me since I can only include 8 pictures in the listing.
Each piece is trimmed in gold around the rim, followed by a band of fish scale decoration that is intermittently broken by three palm trees in a yellow field. In-between the palm trees is a floral decoration in blue and white with a yellow center flanked by green leaves that float above the fish scale banding. The base color of the porcelain is a lovely creamy white and each piece is marked a shown.
Please see the photos - I have scanned a perfect piece and one with crazing to show the extremes.
Included are: (1) large platter - 14 1/2" wide (1) medium platter - 10 3/8" wide (1) small platter - 8 1/2" wide (1) oval serving Bowl - 8 1/2" wide (1) round serving bowl - 8 3/8" in diameter (1) deep serving bowl 5/8" in diameter and 3 1/4" in height (1) fast stand gravy - 6 1/2" wide (1) covered serving bowl - 10 1/4" wide (1) butterdish with insert and lid - 7 3/8" wide (1) creamer - 5 3/4" wide - small chip on spout (1) sugar bowl with lid - 5 1/8" wide - small chip on inside of the rim that fits down into the bowl (6) small berry bowls - 5 3/8" in diameter (10) large soup bowls - 7 1/2" in diameter (8) bread and butter plates - 6 1/4" in diameter - one has a tiny chip (9) desert plates - 7 1/8" in diameter (7) salad plates - 8 1/2" in diameter (8) dinner plates - 10" in diameter (20) cups (23) saucers
If I count correctly that is 105 pieces including inserts and lids. In trying to determine the pattern name of this set I could only find one piece available and it was damaged and listed at $112.00.
Due to the large amount of pieces in this set it will have to ship in multiple boxes.
