Royal Stanley - Colclough & Co

Royal Stanley Ware was produced by Colclough & Co. form my home town of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. It was produced for a limited period between 1919-1928 and, like a lot of pottery of this period, introduced to compete with the more expensive styles of Moorcroft. Rich Cobalt Blue background and a profusion of colour were combined to produce a robust, decorative ware sought after by today's collectors.

Royal Stanley Jacobean Ware Vase Royal Stanley Jacobean Ware was produced by Colclough & Co from my home town of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. This particular vase carries the backstamp for the period 1919-1928 and so the condition of this vase belies it's age. The ware was often described as "poor man's Moorcroft" due to it's rich cobalt glaze and hand painted fruits and floral designs and it's easy to see why. Jacobean ware is now highly collectable and sought after in it's own right and this impressive, almost 6.1/4" tall and 4" widest point Vase is a superb example in truly wonderful condition although for strict accuracy there are a few miniscule scratches to the pattern here and there. GORGEOUS.

The Vase is in their Jacobean Ware range and decorated in the Clematis design and typifies the rich colours of British Art pottery designs of the Art Deco years of the 1920-30's.
Hand Painted Clematis Flowers of Blue and Mauve are offset against a stunning, high gloss, rich Cobalt Blue Ground to create an impressive, tapering formed vase standing some 8.1/2" Tall and 4" at the base.
With NO cracks, chips or even noticeable wear to the brilliant and rich glaze, the vase is offered in EXCELLENT condition.

Royal Stanley Jacobean Ware Tubelined Vase A Fabulous and EXTREMELY RARE Tubelined Jacobean Ware Vase from Colclough and Co. of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.
The item is from their Royal Stanley range and dates to c1903-1919 when the company produced the range as competition for the better known William Moorcroft designs. In fact, Such pieces were often referred to as Poor Man's Moorcroft.
Beautiful Tube lined and entirely hand painted Fruits and foliage cover the entire vase which stands at 7.1/4 inches tall x 4 inches at the widest point. The Vase is of wonderful shape with an elegant flared neck and bulbous base.
Colours are Typical of this Art pottery period with Cobalt Blues, Purples, Ochres and Greens reminiscent of Pottery of the Art Deco period all lovingly decorated on the solid, Red Clay ware.
The Condition is absolutely wonderful and I can find no evidence of cracks, chips, repairs or ware to pattern and even no real signs of the usual age related crazing.
It really is a SUPERB example for a piece of this age. The base of the vase has also been glazed over with Cobalt colour and the Royal Stanley Backstamp for 1903-1919 is present as shown in the must see extra photos.
