Glass - Pattern Glass

EAPG (Early American Pattern/Pressed Glass) is my passion. I study & collect EAPG. Sometimes an interesting Depression or foreign glass piece will catch my eye; some items in other materials such as silver, pewter, or pottery can appear here too...thus the "plus." The Victorian period is so fascinating, & in many ways mirrors our lives today.

I rotate pieces as I grow in knowledge or if I think you'd appreciate them more than me. And since this wonder of superheated sand (glass) continues to take over my “space,” I’ve always got some to offer: why not finish off your authentic decor with period glassware? Feel free to ask questions or inquire about wanted items which might not be listed.

Be sure to check back for new additions & an occasional “Rarest of the Rare” in EAPG. Some of these pieces have been documented, but are so uncommon that they’ve rarely or never been photographed for publication!

Everything is clean with meticulous descriptions of condition, & I package well. See ebay feedback for ger55.

Thanks,
Ger

PS: When I can pack multiple lots together safely, I will refund a portion of the postage if it comes out less than quoted. That is: ONLY if I can pack them together SAFELY.

347

EAPG: McKee: Scroll with Flowers: eggcup & open salt Made by McKee, this set of the hard-to-find eggcup, along with an open master salt, are both in the pattern Scroll with Flowers; originally shown in a reprint of an 1882 catalog as "Modern Ware." Until the old catalog was found & reprinted in 2002, previously the pattern was attributed to Central or Canton Glass. We now know it is by McKee & Bros. The eggcup measures 2 5/8" across the top, 3 ½" across the handles x 3 1/8" tall; has a small nick under the foot (hard to photograph), & just the faintest hint of grayness inside the base. The open salt measures 2 ½" across the top, 3 ½" across the handles x 2 ¼" tall; has small nicks to the top rim (see photo). The 2 pieces together look so odd, that one almost has to do a double take! Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 2 lbs. from 06068. #347

EAPG: Copper wheel engraved footed sugar w lid *Mint Wonderful mint condition footed sugar in the pattern called Panelled Ringed Stem, c 1880’s. Shown in Kamm 2, pg. 18, the maker is unknown at the present time. The copper wheel engraved Fern & Leaf pattern makes this a super period piece, easily mixed-and-matched with other simple designs of the era. See my nicely engraved butter, in the Mitchell pattern! Measures 9 ¼". No damage. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 3 lbs. from 06068. #327

EAPG: Hobnail oblong bowl tooled ruffed edge Mint In mint condition, with no damage to those lovely hobs, this oblong bowl is sparkling & bright. (The central dark area in the photos is due to lighting & is not a defect). Made by several manufacturers, the top treatment is reminiscent of Hobbs, c 1880’s, although a positive attribution is difficult. Measures 8 ¾" long x 5 ½" wide x 2 ½" deep. EAPG: Buggy Bowl amber novelty ex-Amy Bess Miller collection Shown in Sanford’s Novelties pg 50, this Victorian era novelty, possibly an open salt, in the shape of a baby buggy is quite cute. A warm amber, it shows appropriate wear under the wheels with only 2 minor flakes under the wheels which cannot be seen from the outside (see photo). Measures 3 ½" length; this is the smaller version. What’s really fun about this particular piece, is that it came from the estate of Amy Bess Miller, the major founder of the Hancock Shaker Village in Massachusetts. This was just one small piece from her tremendous collection of pottery and glass. And Amy Bess appears to have been particularly fond of amber colored pattern glass! Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority, with free Delivery Confirmation, 1 lbs. from 06068. #288

EAPG era: Blue MG Chicken eggcup c 1880 Listed in Chiarenza (MG) as part of a breakfast set, this pale blue milkglass eggcup is almost fiery on the edges. The chick has outstretched wings holding up what might be part of a giant egg! Made c 1880’s by Vallereysthall, France, these are not commonly seen. Height is 2 ½". There is a small nick from the beak & a subtle flat flake under the outer rim (see photos). Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 1 lbs. from 06068. #291

EAPG: Gold washed Portland tumbler A faint wash of gold remains over the entire body of this otherwise *Mint condition tumbler. Pattern is Portland by Portland Glass, c 1870’s, and later US Glass (Ripley, Central, Glassport). There is a manufacturer ground base. Gold wash is worn, but with the right light, the tumbler is still quite nice. My photos do not do it justice. Height is 4". EAPG: Ellrose amber stained tumbler *as is Impressive amber stained tumbler in the pattern Ellrose by Geo. Duncan & Sons, c 1886. Amber stained panels alternate with the ever popular Daisy & Button design. Height is 3 7/8". There is a manufacturer ground base. On the last photo you can see a crack which extends about 2/3 of the way from the top. This is not surprising considering how delicate the glass is. Otherwise this tumbler is quite fine and would still make a nice shelf piece or temporary filler. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 2 lbs. from 06068. #294

EAPG: Dirigo Derigo Pear 4 sauces Portland c 1882 You don’t see this pattern too often, if at all. Dirigo Pear, aka Derigo Pear, is said to have been made only in bowls. I believe that these might be sauce dishes, measuring 4" wide x 5" long x 1 1/8" deep. 2 are in Mint condition, with no damage other than being a bit rough along the overfilled fins of the mold line; 1 has a long flake on the top edge; 1 has a quaint underfilling of the handle, & 1 flake on the top.
