Baltimore Pear tray clear with handles
A large clear tray with handles, having the EAPG pattern called Pear, Double Pear or Baltimore Pear in a repeat of 3 designs. The groups of pears & leaves are raised, in high relief under the tray. Originally made by Adams 1874, USG 1891, many others copied this pattern starting in 1930 and on. This tray shows wear, and good detail (see photo) but does not glow under UV light. I cannot give an accurate dating. However, I can tell you that it is in beautiful shape, with wear as expected underneath on the high points of the pears which sit on the table; an occasional odd mark, but nothing too distracting, & no chips or flakes, not even on those nice points! Measures 12 ¼" across the handles s 10 ½" across the center. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 4 lbs. from 06068. #129

Unusual mini covered frosted dish salt (?) marked Portieux *Mint
By the size and shape of this small covered dish, it most likely is a covered salt. Although it also resembles a child's sugar, I could find no reference to Portieux making toy table sets. Marked "Portieux" in relief under the base, piece stands 4 ¼" tall and is without damage! Excellent, & cute, with diamonds & spearheads motif, similar to early pressed American pieces; substantial weight for its size. I did not locate this in my collection of Portieux catalogs, so cannot give an accurate date of production. Victorian: Frosted Daisy & Button heeled glass shoe *Mint origina
Made by Bryce Bros., using a patent by Henry J. Smith’s patent c 1886, this is an original glass heeled shoe, which looks ready for Cinderella to step into…in miniature of course! Shown in the Butler Bros. catalog of 1892 as "Satin Etched Slipper," and documented in Yalom’s Shoes of Glass 2, as her #31. By Yalom’s description this is an original & not a repro: there is a folded front, open toe, double zipper pattern on the back. Also shown in Novelties by Sanford, shoe measures 4 ¾" long x 1 ¾" wide x 1 7/8" tall. A slight indent in the front part of the heel is frosted over & appears related to manufacture. Other than being slightly tippy on the table, there is nothing unusual to remark upon. There is no damage! Please check for other listings of antique glass mini footwear. EAPG: Castor set: Daisy & Button bottles w glass stand c 1890
Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether these things are married or they came that way. I believe that this is an original set, since I saw exactly the same combination of stand & bottles twice: at an auction & on ebay in late December 2005! Maker is currently unknown, but by style it would date to the late 19th century. The 3 bottles are D&B (Daisy & Button): 2 shakers with one original (split) lid, & one replacement lid, and 1 cruet with a stopper. Maybe a hint of graying, but otherwise in nice shape. The base is geometric with crosscut diamonds & fans. In the center is a toothpick holder (often erroneously called a candleholder), which obviously also functions as a handle. It has one large chip under the holder, which is hard to see with the bottles in place. Otherwise, the stand is stable & with no other damage. Height overall is 8 7/8". EAPG: Dirigo Derigo Pear 4 sauces Portland c 1882
You don’t see this pattern too often, if at all. Dirigo Pear, aka Derigo Pear, is said to have been made only in bowls. I believe that these might be sauce dishes, measuring 4" wide x 5" long x 1 1/8" deep. 2 are in Mint condition, with no damage other than being a bit rough along the overfilled fins of the mold line; 1 has a long flake on the top edge; 1 has a quaint underfilling of the handle, & 1 flake on the top. EAPG: Cake salver Bryce Rosette & Palms *Mint
This cake salver, HS (high standard) cake server, is made with the hot wafer joining technique. Made by Bryce Higbee, c 1899-1905, the pattern is called Rosette and Palms, is not marked (never is according to Higby), and is said to be "fairly rare" in the Higby book (pg. 162). The cake salver is an unlisted item in this book! Measures 9 ¾" wide x 5 ¼" tall. In gorgeous condition (see the photo with the glare which shows no obvious scratches), with only the hint of some wear in the middle part of the plate (about 2" round) where something must have been standing. EAPG: McKee: Scroll with Flowers: eggcup & open salt
Made by McKee, this set of the hard-to-find eggcup, along with an open master salt, are both in the pattern Scroll with Flowers; originally shown in a reprint of an 1882 catalog as "Modern Ware." Until the old catalog was found & reprinted in 2002, previously the pattern was attributed to Central or Canton Glass. We now know it is by McKee & Bros. The eggcup measures 2 5/8" across the top, 3 ½" across the handles x 3 1/8" tall; has a small nick under the foot (hard to photograph), & just the faintest hint of grayness inside the base. The open salt measures 2 ½" across the top, 3 ½" across the handles x 2 ¼" tall; has small nicks to the top rim (see photo). The 2 pieces together look so odd, that one almost has to do a double take! Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 2 lbs. from 06068. #347

Futuristic sculpture: 4 tall glass sherberts cocktails champagnes
Fill these with orange sherbert, plop a big red strawberry on top, & plant a sprig of mint on the side for a truly elegant summer dessert! Four modern stemmed glasses, perhaps martini cocktail or saucer champagnes; each looks like a piece of Scandinavian sculpture! I haven’t been able to identify or date these, but I suspect they are fairly contemporary. They are tall at 6 ½". This does not appear to be leaded glass, although the top looks blown; the base pressed. Perfect except for one small nick on the rim of one (see close-up). Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 4 lbs. from 06068. #317

Wonderful mint condition footed sugar in the pattern called Panelled Ringed Stem, c 1880’s. Shown in Kamm 2, pg. 18, the maker is unknown at the present time.
