| Shown in Boston & Sandwich Glass by Barlow & Kaiser, pg 151, #2 under photo 2238, this gas era lampshade is said to be by Sandwich Glass with Gillinder etch; truly a nice combination by 2 giants of early glass; c 1880-1908. Design is a torch & wreath, with 12 scallops on the upper edge; suited for "earlier gas globes with small fitters," said to be hard to find. Height is 4 1/8". The rim is about 2 ¼". There is some roughness along the inner part of the fitter rim, but I believe that this is from manufacture since this area would not be seen with the shade in place. Other than a few rust spots along the fitter line, there is no damage. I’ve seen these in Victorian homes/museums. Obviously this is part of a set, but I don’t expect to be able to accumulate many more myself. So it’s here for anyone who has others to match or wants a spare. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 2 lbs. from 06068. #188 |
