A clear candy container, in the form of a suitcase, including original metal handle & metal base closure. Glass is in pristine condition, with superb detail. "Pat Apld for" in relief on the side; wavy distortion of the sides of the metal base does not affect the ability of the base to close & open. Made by Westmoreland Specialty, the predecessor to Westmoreland Glass, this was the first candy container patented by Geo. West in 1906 (Wilson’s Westmoreland, pg 290). Measures: 3 5/8" long x 2 1/8" wide. LOA including side protuberances is 4". Height of glass is 2 7/8". Height to top of handle is 3 7/8". No damage to glass! Super early piece with history. No reissues known. #104 Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 2 lbs. from 06068. |
