| Many Victorian butter dishes were particularly whimsical in design. This one, Banner Butter, c 1880’s is shown in several reference books. The lid has a basic Daisy & Button pattern arranged as the "stars" area, with double X’s in a stripe pattern suggestive of the American flag. A small finial, the lid, & the base are all in the shape of a shield. Measures 7 ½" long x 5 ½" wide x 3 ½" tall. The finial has no damage; base has a 1" long flake on the edge; the lid is in poor condition, with several chips & one chunk missing from the top corner. It can be displayed effectively however, as shown in the 1st photo. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 4 lbs. from 06068. #440 |
