LA CAVERNA by Maximilian Friess The beautiful bluish-colored front cover shows Carlsbad Caverns 'Rock of Ages', photos by Herbert C. Kennicott and a small inset of Thos. Boles, superintendent.

An Encomium in Waltz Time dedicated to the Beautiful Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

Maximilian Friess Music Publisher Carlsbad New Mexico USA

The coup de gras is the inscription on the front cover which reads:

'With compliments to Mrs. C.W. Bynum this copy of my composition La Caverna-1st edition-on date of release: October 2, 1934 Maximilian Friess'

On the inside the lyrics are in English and German and on the back is a portion of another Friess song 'Love's Longing'.

A small tear down at the bottom and roughed-up edges should not take away any value from this rare piece as the photo shows.

A rare piece of sheet music-I have researched and found no other. From my grandparents estate in NM, my grandmother knew Mr. Friess and probably Mrs. Bynum , too.

Anyone who is a lover of caves will appreciate this item.

LAND OF ENCHANTMENT NEW MEXICO This rare sheet music 'Land of Enchantment New Mexico' was written by Gerald Griffin (words) with music by Bernard Maltin.

The cover is a bright turquoise blue and shows the landmark known as Shiprock in northern NM. It has a War Bond advrtisement on it as well.

The front is inscribed 'To the Lions Club of Carlsbad-Sincerely Gerald Griffin'.

From my grandparents estate in NM, my grandfather was a member of the Lions Club and may have known Mr. Griffin.

Another note of interest is that my grandfather had two sons in WWII, one who was killed on a ship that was accidently sunk by our own planes as it was not marked as a POW or medical ship. He had been captured at Bataan and the Japanese were taking them to a POW camp elsewhere.

Piece is in excellent condition and on the back page it shows several Mills Music Folios for every occasion.

In my research I have not been able to find another item like this.
