Nice condition with just a small amount of paint wear on top and bottom painted metal parts. Side have a few pin prick sized scratches and one very small shallow dent.

Reeds Patties Clear Glass 1 Gal Jar Chicago Advertising

This is a large clear glass jar from the Eugene O. Reed Company in Chicago Illinois. It might have been a General Store Counter Display Jar.

It says: Reeds Patties written in raised Script lettering with the company name and location below that. There is an imprinted 3 in the center bottom.

The jar is not perfect. There is a Crow's foot type crack just below Chicago and a chip on the outer rim of the top lip. Has two seam lines - bubbles and straw marks in the glass. It is pretty clean with just a few small spots - specks inside. And a few light minor small scratches - rubs outside. NO lid.

It is 11 inches tall X 5 inches diameter.

Nice Vintage Advertiser or Decorative Accessory for a family named Reed.

Plastic Baker Smurf proudly presents a decorated cake. He is 2 inches tall and slightly flexible.

The other Figure is hard plastic - age unknown. He is 3 inches tall and has a red mixing spoon in his hand.

Both have been very gently played with. No real damage.

Measures 5 5/8 inches high to top of handle X 5 1/4 inches diameter at widest bulge. Holds about 4 cups.

NO lid. NO chips, cracks, crazing. Does have minor light usage / storage scratches. I see NO interior signs of use.

We have several of these jars - they are marked on front & bottom with various wording & numbers and are in slightly different condition. Each jar is described separately.

Glass lids are held in place by a metal bail which clamps over the top of the lid.

They measure 7 I/2 inches tall to top of glass lid. 1 Qt. Size.

#1 - Raised lettering in front. Script word: Ball - block lettering: IDEAL - PAT’D JULY 14, 1908. Neck has slightly raised lettering: WIRE LID. Botton has raised number 1 with a line under it. Lid top has the # M21 and a reversed 20. Lid underside has a raised letter A. Jar has tiny bubbles - scratches - a few minor small water spots. Rim outer edge has a shallow chip which is smooth and will not cut anyone. Lid has straw marks - and a few very tiny, light rust spots. Bail has a little light rust.

#2 - Raised lettering in front. Script word: Ball - block lettering: IDEAL. (NO date). Jar has lots of tiny bubbles - light scratches - roughness on lettering of word Ball - very minor signs of water stains - rim is smooth with possible teenie fleas. Lid is smooth and good. Bail is the type which twists on, has aluminum clips which hold the clamp wires. Bottom has a raised 3 with a line under it.

#3 - Raised lettering in front. Script word: Ball - block lettering: IDEAL. (NO date). Neck has slightly raised lettering: WIRE LID. Jar has NO bubbles - light scratches - Rim is pretty nice with minor inside fleas (I would be careful washing or drying it and would only use for display) - outer rim has pinhead sized nick, which won’t show - has very little signs of water damage. Lid has some straw marks - minor fleas. Bail has a little light rust. Bottom has only a series of rings - no number.

#4 - Raised lettering in front. Script word: Ball - block lettering: IDEAL. (NO date). There is a number 5 below the word IDEAL. Neck has slightly raised lettering: WIRE LID. Jar has no bubbles - light scratches - almost no signs of water - the rim is perfect. Lid has a couple bubbles & light rim roughness. Bail has rust. Bottom has only a series of rings - and something I can‘t read.

#5 - Raised lettering in front. Script word: Ball - block lettering: IDEAL - PAT’D JULY 14, 1908. Neck has slightly raised lettering: WIRE LID. Botton has raised number 10 with a line under it. Lid top has 3 rings and a bar with groove to hold the wire in place. Jar has a few tiny bubbles - scratches - a few minor small water spots. Rim inner edge has a few minor nicks. Lid has straw marks, a few very tiny nicks on edges, and some water stains which may come off. Bail has a minuscule bit of light rust.

NOTE: If there are chips or fleas on the rim - the jar will not seal safely for canning with jar rubbers. It is - however - great for storage and / or country decorating and display.

Inside is smooth for easy cleaning, outside has white map of world. It looks acid etched, but I believe it is paint. Nice heavy solid mug - not easily broken.

NOTE: This mug was made several different times. It may be marked in a variety of ways:

* Others say the Nestle' Co., Inc.
