Gilded Laviolette Limoges Lotus Petal Cup and Saucer:
Presenting an exquisite beauty produced by Laviolette Limoges porcelain cup and saucer. Laviolette did superb artistry in the latter part of the 1890's through the turn-of-the-century.
The set is painted in a delicate pink tint with a hint of Lavender and lavishly enhanced with burnished gold rims. Deeply fluted Lotus flower and petal mold pattern and is of the finest quality porcelain, intricate in sculpted relief detail. The mold detail is quite lovely and gives one the impression of an open floating Lotus, providing the proper framework to accentuate the skilled hand painting.
I am happy to report this lovely has survived in excellent condition. There is no damage to the porcelain, likewise the gilding is in a near perfect state, with very minor gold wear on the handle. A wide gilded band of lavish leaf and thistle on creamy white porcelain compliments the outer cup area.
This stunning set will find favor in the finest cup and saucer collection. Carries the Laviolette mark used from 1896 through 1906. Mold is shown in Mary Frank Gaston's Third Edition, Plate 728, page 286.
