Round Beveled Convex Glass Girl at Window Silhouette
Unusual reverse painted silhouette on convex glass depicting a 1930s-1940s scene of young girl gazing out her garden window.
Measures 9 inches round un-framed and is both unique in subject and shape. It has been mounted in a contemporary faux wood circular frame marked The Hamilton Collection, which appears to be of the typical collector plate type. Glass is metal tab mounted on the original paper backing. Faux wood grain frame is a synthetic material, in a reddish mahogany hue.
The reverse painting is in good order with no paint loss. The paper background has some crimps, but no tears, water staining or severe discolorations. Original heavy stock paper board backing has an "O" ring for wall mounting.
Starting in the 1920's and up to the late 1950's, silhouette's became a most popular form of home decorative arts, replicating the 18th century form of artwork created in paper by silhouette artists.
Please note: Any of the "angular" patterns shown in some of the pictures are not discoloration or stains to the paper background, all are due to camera flash.
