19th Century Le Nove Bassano Faience Reticulated Box
Antique Nove (Bassano) Italian soft paste porcelain covered box using trellis openwork with exceptional detail and quality, paint and applied hand formed petaled florals in its design.
Two piece box with a lid with a rounded corner and wide scallop rim and the bowl having more of a rounded corner octagon shape. Mold is embossed with a raised scroll and swirl motif and accent painted with colors of violet, goldenrod and cornflower blue in the floral bouquets, green and umber in airbrushed shades accenting the embossing and trellis motif openwork. The lid is beautifully topped with three large, fully formed and petaled flowers on broad green leaves.
It's condition is rated as overall very good with, what is to be expected from antique soft paste, small chips on the flower petals (most have been retouched with paint) and extensive rub wear on the unglazed 'feet' of the underbase. Heavy high gloss glazing has minimal glaze crazing. Measures 6.5 inches wide and deep with a height of 4 inches (covered).
Underglaze green NOVE Italy mark used between 1760 - 1835. Le Nove, Bassano G.B. Antonibon, est. 1760, Italy.
