Antique German Doll Trademarks 1875-1960 / Signed Book Profusely illustrated in black-and-white, this rare out of print book is a classic reference on antique German doll marks and trademarks.

DIRECTORY OF GERMAN DOLLS TRADEMARKS 1875-1960: PART II—DOLL DIRECTORIES by Luella Hart, published by the author, 1964, Second printing.

Application for copyright began in the early 50’s as the work was in progress. It is the second in a three-volume series dealing with trademarks and patents on European dolls by British, German and French doll makers. This German Directory contains trademarks only, from the earliest days of German history, when 'rules affecting patent rights and trademarks in Germany became effective on November 30, 1874.' Illustrated with black and white photos and some drawings, this thoroughly researched list of trademarks is an invaluable reference guide for the collector, dealer, or historian of antique German dolls of all types.

German Character Dolls Makers Marks – 254 Photos / Book Given 254 black-and-white photographs, this early out-of-print book is an invaluable identification guide to antique German character dolls including information on marks.

THE COLLECTOR’S DIGEST OF GERMAN CHARACTER DOLLS by Robert and Karin MacDowell, Hobby House Press, Inc., Maryland, 1981.

Considering the scarcity of fine authentic examples of antique dolls of all types, and especially the lack of concise photographic material, a book of this type is an indispensable reference. Among the dolls illustrated, including marks, are the following: Franz Schmidt & Co., Gebruder Heubach, Heubach/Koppelsdorf, Kammer & Reinhardt, J.D. Kestner, Armand Marseille, Simon & Halbig and many more. Most of the dolls included are shown fully dressed in their original clothes, also undressed for viewing body construction. Close-ups of the faces illustrate detailed modeling and painting. Remarkable close-up shots of the marks and almost every doll is extremely valuable. In addition, in many cases the marks have been drawn to further facilitate identification. This is a must-buy book for the serious collector, dealer, or historian of antique vintage dolls.

Rare Book Antique German Dolls Kestner Marseille Etc. Featuring 250 illustrations, 40 in full color and discussion of over 500 dolls, this rare out-of-print book covers 'the enormous variety of dolls produced in Germany during its golden age of doll manufacturing, roughly 1880 to 1930. During this half century, German doll manufacturers not only produced almost every conceivable type of doll then sold—from china, bisque, and papier-mâché to molded tin and celluloid—but came to dominate the world market, eventually deposing even the great French master Jumeau as 'king of the dollmakers.' … Among the world-famous makers whose works are illustrated and discussed are Kammer & Reinhardt, Simon & Halbig, J.D. Kestner, Armand Marseille, Gebruder Heubach, Heinrich Handwerck, Kathe Kruse, Kley & Hahn, Franz Schmidt, Schoenau & Hoffmeister, Hermann Steiner, C.F. Kling, Bahr & Proschild, and dozens of others. Their vast output, ranging from enormously popular dolly-faced dolls and amazingly lifelike character babies to such novelties as googly-eyed dolls and bisque and celluloid swimmers with key-wind mechanisms, fill the pages of this attractive and informative book.'
