Scarce In-Depth Illustrated Book Lalique Art Glass Lavishly illustrated in color, this comprehensive text is a pictorial guide to

THE ART OF RENE LALIQUE by Patricia Bayer & Mark Waller, Eagle Editions, Hertfordshire, UK, 1988/2001.

The authors 'examine the artist’s oeuvre and trace his development from goldsmith-jeweler to glassmaker. They also identify the key phases of his work in relation to the evolution of his technique, for example the application of the cire perdue [lost wax] process—normally associated with bronze casting—to glassmaking. Lalique’s extraordinary output, including his scent bottles, vases, bowls, mascots and other statuary, is marvelously documented in more than 350 full-color photographs, many of them previously unpublished.' Here is an essential reference work for collectors of French Lalique and admirers of art glass in general. It is also a sumptuously illustrated book to grace the coffee table and provide hours of aesthetic enjoyment for study and browsing.

Oversize / heavy 9.7 in. x 13 in. hardback with dust cover in like-new condition. 192 pages.

Antique French Lalique Art Glass Jewelry In-Depth Book Here is a bi-lingual text, presented in English and French, supported by approximately 500 superb color photo plates. The lavish illustrations, identifying captions, concisely rich narrative, and section on Marks combine to make this rare out-of-print book one of the leading references on Lalique art glass and jewelry.

LALIQUE PAR LALIQUE by Marc and Marie-Claude Lalique, The Lalique Society, Paris, 1977.

The direct descendents of Rene Lalique have gathered these materials in jewelry creation and glass making from family documents and shown them with informative captions, close-up views and superb photography. Sections also treat the work of Marc and Marie-Claude Lalique, son and granddaughter of Rene and successful artists in their own right. Background information on how certain pieces came to be created as well as general biographical data make this book a loving tribute to a great artist, a lesson on how a passion for creation is handed down through generations, a visual feast, and a triumph of art itself. About half of the book deals with Lalique designed jewelry and the balance of the book covers in-depth the various art glass types created by Lalique. This rare comprehensive book is a collector’s item in itself and would make a fine addition to the permanent reference library of any collector, dealer, or historian of Lalique objects of art.

French Lalique Glass / 1932 Catalog Reprint For the scholar or collector interested in Lalique, there is one indispensable reference, one tool he must have: the complete 1932 catalogue, which illustrates over 1500 objects, comprising a one-of-a-kind gallery of art Nouveau and Art Deco motifs.'

LALIQUE GLASS: THE COMPLETE ILLUSTRATED CATALOG FOR 1932 is an unabridged republication of the original (1932) edition, titled 'Catalogue des Verrerries de Rene Lalique,' Dover Publications, N.Y., in association with the Corning Museum of Glass, 1981.

'Vases, cups, plates, boxes, mirrors, ashtrays, flacons, toilet sets, paperweights, clocks, decanters, jewelry and many other items—even decorative radiator caps!--display an enormous range of design ideas and sophisticated craftsmanship. In addition, the catalogue provides a design number and measurement in millimeters for each object, while a price list (in 1932 French francs) gives prices—for clear or colored glass.' The original catalogue has been so rare only 4 copies were known to exist. This Dover republication was taken from the Corning Museum’s copy. Thus, an invaluable reference work for lovers of Lalique glass is once again within the public purview.

Rare Book French Antique Lalique Art Glass Beautifully illustrated in color and black-and-white, this early out-of-print book is a definitive study of the history and production of the art of Rene Lalique.

LALIQUE FOR COLLECTORS by Katharine Morrison McClinton, Lutterworth Press, London, 1975.

'Rene Lalique, who died in 1945, is famous for the beautiful glass which he made from the 1890s to the 1930s and which is eagerly sought by collectors today. Lalique’s glass production was extensive and varied, ranging from decorative vases to radiator caps and including table services, clocks, desk accessories, and mirrors and lighting fixtures. He was particularly renowned for his perfume bottles, some of which he made for Coty, Houbigant and other French perfumers. He was particularly fond of graceful nude figures in Art Nouveau style but his designs included flowers, birds and fish in great variety. As the Art Deco style emerged in the 1920s Lalique pieces followed the trend.'

'Although his chief fame is as a glassmaker, Lalique was also a noteworthy goldsmith and jeweler, creating cups, flacons and statuettes in gold and striking original jewelry for European royalty and such well-known actresses as Sarah Bernhardt. Examples of this work are covered fully in this book in addition to glass. Collectors will find the wealth of illustrations of the greatest value as well as the history and descriptions of the pieces. Check lists from factory catalogues and sales rooms will be particularly useful also.' This is an indispensable book, which would make a fine addition to the permanent reference library of the collector, dealer, or historian of French art glass.
