Ornately Carved Vintage Black Forest Clock Console Set This massive three-piece Black Forest console set consists of a heavily carved clock and two candle stick holders. Presumably made of black walnut, this three-piece vintage set has exceptionally carved animals, birds, fruit, foliage, and more. The clock is approximately 22 in. high, 16 in. wide, and 9 in. deep. This piece and the two candle holders are deeply carved - not always evident in my amateur photographs. The rooster has delicately carved feathers and facial features, as do the hen and chick. The legs of these critters are free standing. The deep undercuts forming the legs, the ouststretched wings, fanned tail, and foliage, bring this piece and the other pieces to life. There is an open basket below which is a detailed rabbit. Where the clock has a key, the clock mechanism does NOT work. The brass Roman numeral numbers are intact on the face of the clock, however, the clock brass ring has some deformation.

The two adjoining candle sticks are works of art in themselves. Again deeply and delicately carved, the candle sticks are approximately 10.5 in. tall and 8.3 in. x 6.2 in. at the base. The birds, branches, fruit, and foliage are again "free standing" due to the deep undercuts and detailed carving which brings the three-dimensions alive. There are very few edge nicks to the carved features and no noticeable repairs. We have owned this clock set for about ten years and guarantee it to be old.
