Old Paris porcelain two-piece mantle vase, with a deep green background, handpainted dance-in-the-garden scene, rococo flourishes and handles, gilding throughout, and a presence that cannot be ignored. Old Paris porcelain dates from the mid to late 1800s, much of it coming from the southern United States, particularly the Louisiana area. Vases like these can be seen in the next to last scene of the Civil War movie, Gone with the Wind. This vase measures 15 1/2" tall and is in excellent condition, its only flaws being visible crazing on the lighter portions and a minute chip on one flourish on one handle. The base is marked with lettering or numbering which is partly hidden by the connecting plate. A fine, fine example of early porcelain in the U.S.
Vase will be taken apart prior to shipping in order to prevent stress and fracture on each part, but this vase is easily re-assembled. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
