Made by Muriel Josef George and pictured in the Josef Originals book "Charming Figurines" on pages 43-45. Valued at $35-$40 each. All are hand painted and have black eyes and gold trim. This is the cute little Birthday Girl #5. She is so cute holding her ABC book ready for Kindergarten. She stands 3.75 inches tall and is incised on the bottom "Josef Originals" in script & has the © indicating she is Vintage & made in California. She also has her original black & gold JO sticker & a partial of the Japan. Hang tag says "A Josef Original" on the front and "The Fifth Year" on the back. Poem inside reads:
School this year, I'm FIVE years old!
I try to mind what I am told--
"Learn to read" and "Learn to write"
Cause Daddy says I'm "very bright"
