c1896 Victorian Book - ST. ELMO by Augusta J. Evans
Great Victorian book in red cloth cover. Has inset photo lithograph of a couple kissing, appears that they are man and wife. Woman is wearing a bridal gown. The photo is COPYRIGHT, 1896 BY G. W. DILLINGHAM CO. Is a SPECIAL EDITION BOOK, LIMITED TO 100,000 COPIES. In great condition for its age. Was taken care of. Book binding in tact, no missing pages, nor any tears. Pages slightly yellowed, but not bad yet. The inside book was penciled in by it's previous owner: Meda Martin, M. N.C. 1906. Exert from book: "Ah the true rule is - a true wife in her husband's house is his servant; it is in his heart that she is queen. Can't say enough about the GREAT CONDITION this wonderful red clothbound book with original dust jacket. It is 95 YEARS OLD and looks ~New! Copyright, 1910 HALLIE ERMINIE RIVES,(Mrs.Post Wheeler), (Author of SATAN SANDERSON). Illustrations by A.B.WENZELL. Publishers: GROSSET & DUNLAP, New York. 435 pages.
TITLED: THE KINGDOM OF SLENDER SWORDS.
CONDITION: Red cloth boards with gold titles. Excellent color illustration pasted down to front cover, Geisha and a Victorian Woman in lovely gowns). With dust-jacket, aged and very worn. Because of that, is has saved and kept this book in FANTASTIC condition!! Could easily pass for brand-new. Only minor flaw is the end pages are dirty. Binding tight, square, no cracking. Super nice clean pages, only one edge stain.
Inside dust-jacket has reference to book.
A very modern love story whose scene is Japan and whose heroine is an American girl.
