Just like Teddy Roosevelt's glasses - maybe they were! 26 inch grossgrain ribbon holds they around your neck when you are galloping on your horse. Swivel helps you easily lift them to your eyes and "Soft-Lite" is a tint like dark glasses. Of an early, obviously indestructable, plastic that look like dark tortoise when held to light.

I am just guessing at the age but this old Arts and Craft style glasses case is made for the old wire rims of the time. (A pair is shown in one image but not include in price.) Measures 4 1/2 x 1 7/8 inches and is lined in purple which was hard to picture. The gold embossing lists an well-known Minneapolis company on classy Nicollet Avenue.

Beautiful half circle 14 K gold slide has 2 light opals with a darker (black?) opal in the middle and is 3/4 inch long. Chain has not been tested but if it is only gf, it doesn't show wear. Swivel is hallmarked - English?

Yes, that 56 inches is correct! The chain has a flat silver look, patterned on both sides. I suspect it is nickel or an alloy with nickel. Not signed unless you count the blob inside the chain which I can't figure out.

Tiny seed pearls highlight this tiny (3/8 inch) slide and it has a lovely, fine longchain of 48 inches with a swivel marked H.D.M. & Co. Goldfill on chain shows wear only with magnification. Darkening around pearls only noticeable in closeup.

Pat. Jan. 30, 17, white goldfilled lorgnette is very similar to #8500, probably made by same company. Chain is fine with spring clasp and comes together after 24 inches to form Y of another 4 inches attached to glasses with spring clasp. See image for folded position too..

I can just see an Engish marm at my University of Minnesota peering down her nose at her Engish Literature class through these binocular tortoise shell glasses. The hairpin on a chain assures that they don't fall off her face. (I once had a pair like this with a chain and pin on EACH side - a very insecure lady). Metal appears to be goldfilled, fine chain is 9 1/2 inches long. My 67 year old eyes can read with the bottom, magnified lens.

Cute little guys: these specs have a double flex nose piece for you comfort and a 4 inch chain hooked an earpiece for safety's sake. Picture the distraught wearer with his glasses hanging from his ear! There is hole drilled on the otherside if you want to be really safe (then they will hang under nose). Minor magnification - not much help for my eyes.

Shown here is a very nice gold-filled round slide with opal and half pearls (not real) forming a half moon. Chain has swivel and is twisted rope style with most gold-fill worn off. Slide itself is in very good condition.

These are a knockoff of an Oliver Goldsmith design which I once had for real. Stamped "Italian Design 57015, Made in Taiwan. Excellent condition - like they were never worn? Takes a brave person to wear something like this. Last image shows back of black glass.

Elegance at the opera with this dainty white goldfilled lorgnette or pinz nez on a 28 inch silver chain (possibly sterling) which splits, then has a single 4 inches that holds the lorgnette with a spring ring. Magnify a little - maybe to read the program?

Another school marm accessory. Pin it to your bosom and hang you glasses on it. The pull out the chain when you need to put them to your nose and peer at your students. Chain on spring still works well. Back stamped Dougal, Ketchall, East Orange N.J. and clasp is C, underneath has a metal spring to hold it. Unusual. Smooth black shiny front is hard to photograph. Painted metal?
