4 1/2 inches, made by Pfaff, a German company dating to 1862 that shipped many of its sewing machines to other European countires and their colonies. Label of sewing machine oil is in Spanish, Italian and Dutch.

This plastic piece, which seems more like Bakelite than celuloid, presents a knotty problem. What is it? Yes, it has 2 rings embedded on back so obviously it is meant to be sewn on. Conclusion? It is some sort of clasp with the hook-in part missing. Maybe you can explain it! 2 inches long including hook and over 1 inch wide.

Fine beadwork on netting, this collar measures 8 inches across with the center beads swagged. Excellent condition, no loose or missing beads.

A beautiful example of the Czech aristry in glass. Silver backed light blue glass is etched and decorated with gold. 2 x 1 1/2 inches. Very good condition, only a bit of wear on raised gold. Marked on the INSIDE of the bend buckle - hard to find.

Not a big blue bow pin, but a big blue sew-on, probably intended for a hat. There are 3 small rings or eyes on the back to run your thread through. Faceted rhinestones are still very nice though I think the settings could fit a little tighter. Then again, I am sure it wasn't purchased at Tiffany's - it is what it is and in very good condition. Measures 3 inches across and 2 down.

Fierce lion (?) heads roar at each other across the hook of this fancy metal clasp. Holes to sew on each side and chain to hook. Very good condition.

Victorian wide neck or collar decoration? Someone tackled a big project here - stitching red, black, copper, coiled gold cord and pale blue beads onto a round centerpiece measuring 2 1/2 inches and 6 oval with lengths of 1 1/2. All these piece are in excellent condition but some of the strings of beads holding them together have broken. I have some of the beads for restoration but I don't think they are all there. Beaders, you could fix this in a night - and have fun!

These tiny wool covered buttons were on a black vest which I bought, along with the formal jacket with tails - it fit me! It was hand tailored in Finland in 1933 and landed here with an immigrant. One button was missing from the vest and in replacing them, I found that these shanked buttons were applied with the clip pictured - removable for cleaning? But them were attached inside the lining! A curiosity.

Red, blue and yellow stones are prongset in a heap to form a very impressive 1 inch button. See view of back with shank too. Very good condition - no missing stones.

These darling little heart buttons are joined by a fine chain so you can't lose them when you remove them to wash your little girl's lacy Victorian Shirtwaist. Can't you just see it? Fancy goldfilled hearts measure 5/16 each way and are connected with fine 3 inch chains. In enlarged picture, the middle button is upside down so you can view the anchor. There is a closeup too. So cute I am tempted to start collecting buttons!

Bohemian or Czech is my guess for this 4 inch decoration with eyes on each end. The prongset brilliants are still brilliant and the open rectangle of black glass is flawless. It must have been used because almost all of the silver wash is worn off but it is in great condition.

I rarely run across these unusual "buttons" but collectors seem to like adding them to their stash. I would never have figured it out except the my first one was stamped with the name of a notions company. Rootbeer Bakelite leave is 2 inches long and 1 3/4 across and gold leaf is 1 1/4. Chain is 3 inches. See 2 images, excellent condition.
