My Victorian expert identifies this pin as made of pinchbeck - a metal alloy made to look like gold which it does. but maybe it is rolled gold. It's certainly old - check that pin point sticking way out. Hollow construction with back looking like silver and tube hinge are clues too. All those curls and curves look like Art Nouveau - maybe a "transition" piece? 2 x 1 1/2 inches, it has a sturdy C clasp and is in very good condition. Don't forget to note etching on center ribbon. |
