This Victorian pin deserves a close-up look - I have never seen anything like it. First of all, the theme: a swan and seashell are unusual for Victorian times. The rose rolled gold of the seashell has beautiful detail. Now note the contrast of yellow gold under the swan; it's rough like she is paddling like crazy. The swan is nicely 3 dimesional with appled wings showing individual feathers. Alas, the swan is not sterling so some of the silver has worn off the top wing. Otherwise, very good. condition. Back has fat c clasp or half tube.
