P018
European Porcelain Sculpture Gold Enamel This is truly one of the most spectacular European porcelain sculptures. It is spectacular in every way! The sculpture begins with a classical design plinth and on that stands 2 men and 2 women all playing instruments. The decoration, the molding, the composition, and the colors are truly spectacular - more than you could imagine! Truly fantastic! In-between each of the musicians there are things placed at the bottom of there pedestal like, 2 music books, 2 military type hats, another instrument like a flute, a boodle of wine and a violin. Once again the decoration is fine and delicate. It has plethora of raised enamel work around the bottom of the ladies dresses. On their hats and waist bands there is a lot of gold enameling. When you run your fingers over it you can feel the little tinny enamel bumps. This sculpture is in perfect condition - I can not find any damage to it at all. It is marked underneath with blue crossed swords, a star in under glazed blue along with an impressed beehive with the #35 below and #846 above. The base is 5 7/8" in diameter and it is approx 10 ¾" at highest. Circa late 18o0's early 1900's. It is a stunning sculpture!

P010
Antique Meissen Porcelain Bowl Gold Enamel Here is one of the most elegant and impressive large Meissen bowls! It is in a royal lemon yellow with lavish amounts of gold enameling. The gold enameling is incredibly ornate with flowing scrolls and leaves embracing the center and the entire rim. It is very classical in design and quite refined. It is marked on the bottom with the blue underglaze crossed swords along with the number 29. There is also a B150 incised in script along with an impressed 13. It is in very good condition with the expected wear here and there to the gold enameling but it isn’t noticeable in the least and in no way takes away from the grandeur of this piece. It measures 11" in diameter x 2 ¼" high.

Antique Meissen Porcelain Bowl Gold Enamel Here is an elegant, ornate and refined shallow Meissen bowl in white ground with robin’s egg blue reserves all around the interior. Within each of those reserves are the most detailed, highly raised, ornate gold enameled floral bouquets. Two perfect and elegant rococo shells adore the top edge. The bowl is marked with the blue underglaze crossed swords along with the number 61. There are also some incised impressed numbers and letters which are hard to decipher. The bowl is in very good condition. There is some wear to the gold enameling especially on the highly raised areas – which is to be expected and it in no ways takes away from the grandeur of this piece. The bowl measures 10 7/8" in diameter x 1 ¾" high.

Click for more detail...
P013
Royal Vienna Porcelain Urn Hand Painted Classical Here is a truly classical pectoral Royal Vienna urn. As you can see the decoration is truly classical. At the top it starts out with twisted serpents for handles. There is a different scene on each side of the urn. It is signed under the handle on the left side in script by the maker or artist. It has a lavish amount of gold gilding on a deep deep fuchsia color. Underneath it is marked with the blue beehive mark and around the outside edge of the base it is stamped Germany – back to the interior – it has the name of each scene written in script in red underneath it is very hard to make out but my best guess is Amor ntwuffnit then a word that is impossible and then jenurs?. The work is suburb and I don’t think you can see this in the pictures but all around the top lacy edge it has raised beaded enameling and also around where the serpent handles are in-between the serpents again more raised enamel beading. The urn is in excellent condition and it measures 12 ¼"h with a base diameter of 4 1/8".

It is exquisitely decorated all over with vivid florals that surround a portrait of a lovely young lady. The condition is great – it has only a bit of crazing, which we all know is either done in the studio or from the natural aging process. Underneath the vase it has a multitude of marks:
A crown and shield with Royal Bonn Germany, a circle with impressed marks, G 9974/S-in script, D 6369- in script, an impressed diamond with the number 11 in the middle, and last but not least the number 2703 impressed.

P015
French Fiance Porcelain Compote Enamel Antique Oh here is an exceptional French fiancé footed compote with lid all in an open basket weave design. Strewn about there are delicate flowers, fruit and foliage. The condition is very good! The flowers are so beautiful and vibrant they jump off the cream colored ground. It is marked on the bottom in fancy script – Aladin Made in France. There are also numerous impressed marks and a blue mark in the form of a shield - take a look. It measures 4 3/8" at highest with a 6 ½" overall diameter. As of yet I have not done any research as to who the maker is – but I will get to it A.S.A.P. In the mean time I am pleased to offer this lovely little French fiancé compote with lid.

P016
Meissen Porcelain Compotes Enamel Birds Pair Antique Here is a particularly handsome pair of Meissen compotes. As you can see they have a very wide reticulated or baskets weave edge. There are five reserves around the edge basically a shell cartouche with floral bouquets in each one. The basket weaving is all highlighted in gold enameling and in the center of the compotes are birds on stylized trees. The compotes also have a basket weave at the bottom and a very interesting whirl as the compote stem rises to hold the bowl. Marked with the Meissen cross swords underneath and in sized into the clay mark of what appears to be the number 90, on the underside of the reticulated bowl there is an impressed number 8 and an in sized number into the porcelain 2. They are both in really incredible condition – they have subtle differences in the colors of the birds. One compote has right underneath the bluebird’s wing a quarter inch line that is actually just a crazing or hairline it does not go through to the underside – it is just under the glaze - other then that they are in remarkable condition with very very minor gold gilding wear to some of the edge spots where one would have constantly wiped or rubbed them. But the compotes are so busy and so much decoration going on it is very hard to notice that. Stunning pair of Meissen compotes and I do believe they date form the 19th century. They measure 6 3/8"h with a diameter of 9".

P019
Antique Limoges Porcelain Tray Portraits Here is an elegant and sophisticated T&V Limoges Tray. The subject matter is very patriotic, and historical – a fabulous Americana piece. It is of George and Martha Washington – the first President and the First Lady of the United States of America. Their portraits are on either side with their home, Mt. Vernon, between them at the bottom. It reads Washington’s Home Mt. Vernon, VA. The detail is very fine and the colors are naturalistic and soothing. The tray is finished off nicely with a gold gilt edge. It is marked on the back T&V Limoges France in green. This same mark can be found on pg 293 of the Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain Third Edition which reads "underglaze white ware mark in green, initials with ‘Limoges, France,’ ca. 1892 – 1907, probably latter part of period." It is in very good condition with the expected slight wear to the gold gilt rim especially on the right lower corner. There are also a very few (and I mean very very few) little scratches that aren’t noticeable in the least unless you are examining this piece as intently as I am. I absolutely love this piece! The subject matter alone is dear to my heart as it would be to any patriotic American. It measures a perfect 8" high x 11" wide.

Click for more detail...
P023
18th Century Chinese Export Mug Tanker Porcelain Here is one very exceptionally rare Chinese export mug. It is in a rather large size – and it should probably be considered a tanker. It has an applied blue dolphin handle. I highly suspect that it dates form the Qianlong period circa 1775. It has the most unusual large framed pictorial reserve covering nearly half of the mug. The scene is of several Chinese junks in the sea (boat taxi) going to greet and assist the arriving vessel with passengers. The art work is incredibly fine – the colors typical and perfect consisting of Chinese red and that fabulous flow blue. There are also four other scenes in reserves. It has a hairline crack that goes from the top to bottom and it is visible on both sides (exterior and interior) and it has a little chip on the rim. But considering that this rare export Chinese mug dates form the late 18th century, it isn’t bad in the least. It measures 5 ¼"h with an overall diameter of 4". What a fabulous find for someone with rare and exceptional taste!

P024
KPM Egg Cups Platter Rooster Antique Porcelain Lovely porcelain masterpiece! Can you tell that I just adore this set? This set consists of a platter and four egg cups. The porcelain platter and cups have a soft very fine cream ground trimmed in gold enameling in a shapely flowing and naturalistic design. The central hand painted motif of the platter is of a rooster watching over the hens and a nest full of eggs. The colors are natural, rich and vivid. The egg cups sit right on the platter. Each of the pieces is marked with the KPM red crown and a blue underglaze scepter. The platter is 13 5/8" in diameter and the cups are 2 3/8"h with the top opening 2" in diameter. Can you imagine serving breakfast for two with an arrangement of toast, eggs in the egg cups, linen napkins – oh that’s opulence! Excellent condition and a rare find!
