MEN21
Snuff Box Tobacciana Antique Papier Mâché Inlay This is quite the unusual 19th century snuff box all of papier-mâché. It is in a fantastic oval shape – so simple. It fits very nicely in the palm of your hand. It is in all over stunning black with an oval silver inlay on the top. It is so interesting how this feels in your hand – I can see how it would have been super popular as it would fit right into your pocket. It is a nice one in very good condition. It has only the slightest amount of wear in the front right where someone would open and close it. It isn’t unsightly in the least just a little bit worn – which at this point and time is how it should be! It measures 3 3/8" x 2 ¼" x 1 1/8".

MEN01
Stein Frederick III Portrait Antique Stoneware Here is a wonderful hand painted stoneware stein signed on the bottom HR with the impressed mold numbers of 189. On the inside of the pewter lid it is impressed with the letters "HR" "RZ." This is a half liter stein and as you can see the art work is extremely well executed. It measures 7 ½" high (not including the handle) x 3 3/4" diameter.
I believe the portrait depicts Frederick III. Following the death of Emperor Wilhelm I in 1888, Frederick III (1831-1888) was crowned Emperor but could not rule due to throat cancer and a ninety-nine day coma. He was succeeded that same year by his son, Wilhelm II.
The firm of Hauber and Reuther, which produced "HR" steins, was located in Freising, Bavaria, about 25 miles northeast of Munich. The factory was owned by Albert Hauber and Hans Reuther and operated between the years of 1876 and 1909. HR was a relatively small manufacturer, employing only about 30 people at its peak.

MEN02
Beer Stein Rams Head Cameo Antique Lidded Glass Here is an incredible 19th century beer stein. It is extremely heavy pressed glass in a very Lalique style with a large high relief classical rams head that juts out from the stein for almost 1 inch. On top of the stein in the lid there is an exquisite intaglio cut head of Nero. The design is very very well executed and the stein is in every good condition. It is mounted in pewter and inscribed on the top of the stein 1 over 2 for ½ - so I would suspect that that means it is a ½ liter stein. I should think that this would be a highly sought after stein for the collector. It measures 7 ½" at highest with a base diameter of 3 3/8".

MEN03
Antique Beer Stein Glass Fraternal Here is a wonderful 19th century stein – it is nicely mold blown with a slight aqua tint to the glass. The pewter top has a central enameled plaque inside with a nice scene of a cross, a chalice, a bible and an anchor. It is a very nice stein with wonderful central oval and small circle designs all the way around. Inside the lid there is a central hallmark which I can not make out. The stein is in very good condition and it measures 6 3/8" at highest with a base diameter of 4".

MEN04
Antique Beer Stein Glass Dated 1884 Here is an absolutely stunning 19th century pressed glass stein. It is ornately set with a faceted amber colored glass jewel. It may be real amber I’m not sure. On top of the lid in script it reads S. Soheron and dated 1884. Now my translation of what I can read of the name on the top of the lid may be wrong but the date is very clear. Surrounding the amber facet jewel on the top is a design in high relief of oak leaves and acorns. As you can see the design in the mold of the glass is very elegant and it has an unusual nice shape to the bottom. The stein is in good condition and it measures 8" at highest with a base diameter of 4".

Porcelain Shaving Mug Antique Limoges This is a super large size shaving mug with a horse and sulky and the driver sitting inside as the focal center point. The name and decorations on either side of the horse and sulky are in beautiful gold enameling with TD Henderson. The band on the bottom and the base are also gold enameling as well as along the top edge. There is ever so slight wear to the enameling on the base line and rim but other then that almost perfect condition – no hair lines no discoloring – it is actually very good. On the bottom marked in under glaze green T&V Limoges France with the numbers in gold scrip 5260L. Dating 1892-1907 and you can find this mark on page 293 of the Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain Third Edition. It measures 4 7/8" high with the diameter of the base 3 7/8".

Click for more detail...
MEN19
German Stein 0.5L Elaborate Antique Lidded This is a nice Early Stein - circa 1898. It is one of the most colorful steins! The colors are definitely deep and rich. The main body has a lot of cobalt blue and deep emerald green. The design is extremely flowing and every inch of it is covered. The central reserve on the front is what I believe to be a tavern scene at meal time (or beer time). On each side of the reserve there is a cherub – one is playing the tambourine and the other is ringing the dinner bell. This is a small size stein being marked 0.5L – for the measurement content. Although I don’t profess to know a whole lot about steins this one is seriously attractive and of very good quality. The pewter lid is decorated over every inch as well. It is marked on the bottom Germany (impressed) along with the numbers 1416. It is in extremely fine condition. The interesting thing about this stein is under the reserve you have a ribbed band with a classical decoration all around. The skirt underneath of that is all hollow on the other side. This one is a super great display piece and the artistry is certainly superb! It measures 10" at highest with a base diameter of 4 1/8".

MEN20
Antique Lidded German Stein Stoneware Wedding Outrageous Antique stoneware stein! It is monumental in size measuring 16 1/4" high with a base diameter of 6 1/2". Impressed Mark on the bottom Germany and the numbers 1315. I don’t profess to know everything about steins but I feel this one is quite unusual in that it Looks and Feels more like Majolica than stoneware! The lines are as flowing as any art nouveau porcelain item I’ve ever seen! The base color of the central scene is a deep eggplant color and the scene is something of a wedding or engagement party with people socializing. The central bottom scene base color is of a deep forest green with a chalet nestled in the mountains. On either side of that there are two portraits - one of an older woman and one of an older man. The detail here is fine and intricate. Every inch of the stein is ornately covered. The colors are bold and vivid – making it very difficult to put down. Loosely translated the inscription across the top reads - Health & Happiness are better than much money and worldly goods. The stein is marked 3L on the top near the handle. The pewter top is nicely designed and just a wee bit off kilter. It could be made perfect with a little gentle persuasion! The condition is excellent and dates pre 1914.

MEN22
Horn Bone Snuff Box Tobacciana Rather nice 19th century snuff box – a little bit on the large size and quite unique in that it is made of horn which is a hard and dense material with great weight. The top surface is also quite unusual – I don’t know what material it is for sure but it appears to be a another type of animal surface. The combination of the dark and light it absolutely striking. The hinge is in very good condition. Overall the box is in great condition – no apology is to be made for this one! It measures 3 ½" x 1 7/8" x 7/8".
