MEN24
Tobacciana Spruce Gum Snuff Box This is a super nice 19th century snuff box made of spruce gum. The construction is so early – having pegs and being all chipped craved. The surface is rich and mellow and the hinge works perfectly. The box is in absolutely perfect condition with no cracks – no other damage. The surface patina is original and very lustrous. It measures 3 3/8" x 2 ¼" x 2 1/8".

MEN25
Antique Mother of Pearl Snuff Box Tobacciana This is a very nice 19th century snuff box made of papier-mâché being solid black with a lovely decoration on the top of a diamond. The diamond is outlined in silver or pewter and the center of the diamond is filled with mother of pearl chips. The condition overall is very very good – it has a little bit of deterioration right at the seam of the base. This is quite natural and just one of those things that happen often to papier-mâché over a long period of time. It does not show and the box is very presentable. It measures 3 3/8" x 1 5/8" x 1".

D087
Civil War Belt Buckle American Outstanding authentic civil war belt buckle. I is completely hand made with excellent weight. It has the slight dings and dents that you would expect it to have – along with a slight bend at the edge of the S. It has three prongs in the back to connect to a leather belt. Another very intriguing thing about this civil war buckle are the words/names which where scrapped into the back – I can’t make a few of them but one name is LP Mains. This is 100% authentic – have no fear. It measures 3 3/8" wide x 2 ¼" high.

aa2850
Tobacco Humidor Staffordshire Figural Whimsical 19th century Staffordshire tobacco humidor. I would assume the subject would be called "Tea Time"?? You can see she is a sweet little old lady sipping her tea with a smile on her face. No one would ever suspect she is hiding her tobacco inside. She is so well decorated in her lavender housecoat. Where her dress is exposed you might be able to see all those flower petals are raised enamel beads as well as all along the edge of her dress. Now for the bad news, there is a chip under her right elbow, a little chip on her right pinky finger, cream pitcher handle is chipped off, and tiny specks of color lost on her orange shoes. A rather unique subject dating from the 19th century. Measuring 8 1/8" high, 4 1/8" across the center and 6" deep.

aa2843
Civil War Sword Horstmann Philadelphia A good civil war sword made by Horstmann of Philadelphia. This sword is in good condition has good weight ,blade is in good condition as well. The black leather & brass scabbard of course looks like you would expect it to ,but is still very healthy! Measuring 35" Long Take a look at my entire web catalogue for a few more swords from an estate here in Rockland Maine. To follow is a bit of information I found on the maker.
W.H. Horstmann & Sons, NY and Philadelphia
Although Horstmann was more of a resaler than a maker, I am including one of this firm’s marks anyways. I’ve seen at least 5 versions of the Horstmann mark, most on a variety of officer’s sabers. The carried a range of sword varieties rivaled only by the Ames company. Most standard issue models were sold, as well as a huge variety of related military equipment. Most, if not all, blades were imported from Germany, and some still carry marks from their German makers. Horstmann held government contracts for 1043 cavalry sabers, 1143 NCO swords, 270 musician swords, and 87 light artillery sabers, and is the only known maker of the M1840 Marine sword.
