Click for more detail...

C1915 Edwardian Genuine AQUAMARINE Filigree Lavaliere Pendant Necklace This very special, circa 1915 lavaliere pendant boasts a large, natural, genuine faceted aquamarine in a lacey Edwardian style mounting suspended from a pierced triangular bail. The pendant alone measures 1" high by 11/16" wide; with the bail, the height is 1 7/8".

The gem’s pronged mounting has very finely stamped foliate and ribbed designs hinting at the Art Deco movement to come. The bail is pierced with horizontal, ribbed bars surmounted by a very brightly faceted flower and leaf design. The two lengths of novelty chain give the necklace a total inner measurement of 16 ¾". The clasp is a fancy filigree folded hook style stamped with the jeweler’s hallmark which appears to be "JHF."

This is a natural, genuine aquamarine gemstone. It has an approximate weight of 11.75 carats, and is 18mm high and 15mm wide. There is one tiny chip on the underside, one very short inclusion, but no cracks, and no scratches. The mounting and chain are rhodium-plated metal.

The size and color make this pendant a rare encounter. During the Belle Époque and Edwardian eras, the aquamarine was favored as its light hue was preferred when set in "white metals" and worn with the filmy and feminine styles of the Bon Ton. Today, genuine aquas of any size are hard to come by. This is an opportunity to possess a bit of the romance of the past in a pendant that is worthy of heirloom care.

Antique C1905 EDWARDIAN 10K Rose Gold, Garnet & Pearl Lavaliere Pendant Necklace This dainty circa 1905 Edwardian lavaliere or pendant is made of 10K rose gold and features a delicious rose-cut garnet and genuine pearls. The pendant measures 1 3/8" long (not including bail) by 11/16" wide.

The color of the, collet-set, pear-shaped gem is the favored purple-red of the Almandine variety of garnet, no brown or orange undertones here. The claw-set natural pearl above is quite baroque in shape. The one below is nearly perfectly round with gorgeous luster. The pendant is not marked but tests positive as 10K gold. I have supplied it with an old stock, never worn, 18" long gold-filled chain with spring-ring clasp (tab is stamped "CA Co. 1/20 12K GF"). The necklace is in wonderful condition and has the quintessential look of Edwardian period pendants worn during the Belle Époque.

Click for more detail...

C1915 EDWARDIAN Blue Glass Pendant Necklace in Crystal-Set Floral Frame This circa 1915 Edwardian era pendant boasts a large blue molded glass faceted jewel capped by cast flowers set with sparkling paste rose-cut crystals—ornament upon ornament! The pendant is 1 7/8" high and about 1 ½" wide. The patinated flowers are deeply stamped for realism and three have rosette foiled crystals in their center. The blue glass oval is 1 1/4" high—quite sizable--and is bezel-set in a serrated mounting. It does have some light surface wear and two tiny surface nicks.

Above the pendant are two individual flowers, each with a rosette, that meet the silver-plated chain to form a continuous necklace of about 32 ½" in length. The women of the Belle Epoque period wore their pendants long and swinging low! The style is elegant and timeless—try it with the naturally matching denim in a casual style or go more formal in the Edwardian manner.

Click for more detail...

Antique EDWARDIAN Brass & Rose Glass Teardrops Double TASSELS Necklace This supremely sensuous antique necklace has a unique knotted link between the bead-accented gilt chain and the rose crystal, double tassel drops. The chain portion has a length of 13 ¼" on each side above the knot (or an inner circumference of about 26 ½"). The knot and the chains with tassels fall 5 ¼" below that.

The facetted, fire-polished, round beads come in several sizes, with slight tonal variations within; and all have white cores. The six tear-drop pendants are all cut crystal; (one is slightly shorter than the rest due to some roughness at the top) and all drops also have tonal variations and solid cores too. The knotted mesh knot is actually a fine interwoven chain, not a fabric cord. The necklace has a spring-ring clasp and its condition is as lovely as its charm.

Click for more detail...

ART NOUVEAU Victorian Sash Pin Brooch with LG Topaz Glass Jewel This Victorian period sash pin or brooch has a simple Art Nouveau style with four flowers joined by leafy garlands within a modified oval frame which holds a very intensely colored topaz glass jewel.

The brooch measures 3 ¼" wide by 2 ¼" high. The faceted, molded glass jewel is 1 ¼" wide and held by prongs that are part of the stamped body. The color of the stone is rich and the glass is free of bubbles, scratches, and cracks.

The brooch has the C-clasp style closure on the pin, common before 1900. The finish on the front is a soft and lustrous silver plate and the back shows more of the natural oxidation of time. Such larger pieces were once worn on wide sashes at the waist and today are very suitable for jacket or coat collars, sweaters, hats, heavier cloth shirts, or even on ribbons as chokers for the truly fashion forward lady with a taste for styles of bygone days.

Click for more detail...

C1915 Tri Color Engraved ART DECO Rectangular Double Photo Locket Necklace This fancy tricolor metal circa 1915 locket was the Art Deco girl’s version of a Victorian keepsake updated with a rectangular shape and, guilloche’ or engine-turned engraving.
The silver, cheery yellow-gold, and rose-gold color of the front is vertically engraved with wavy bands on the left and right panels and diagonal straight and zigzag stripes across the center field. In the upper right is a rectangular panel outline ideal for a monogram (never used).

The locket can hold two photos, each measuring 1 ½: by 1" under the rims of the brass-color inside. Or you can certainly use it to hold a special love note or even blotting papers in the old romantic style. The interior is stamped SOB Co on each side; this mark belonged to SO Bigney & Co.of Attleboro, Massachusetts. The back of the locket is a yellow gold color with pairs of vertical engraved bands. The locket is in wonderful condition with only light surface wear. It comes on a 17 1 /4" long rose gold-filled rolo chain with tube push-clasp.

C1920 DECO / Edwardian Filigree Bangle with 3 Large Glass Stones This bedazzling circa 1920 Edwardian - Deco transitional filigree bangle is finished in gold and set with three large blue topaz colored glass stones. The bangle measures ½" wide and is 2 3/16" in diameter across the width of the oval interior.

The lace-like filigree has two a central band of cusped ovals contrasted by upright bars. Each of the three, open-back stones is 8mm in diameter and set in a bezel for a fine jewelry effect. The closure is accessed by a push tab; a sliding double-bar keeps the bracelet from hanging loose. The modest maker did not sign this lovely bangle which is in wonderful condition with only a tiny bit of wear to plating on the back edges. Click here to enlarge image and see more about item Aesthetic_Japan_Stickpin_Velvet_Box: Antique C1890 Aesthetic Movement Japan Style Stickpin with Org. Velvet Box
Click for more detail...

Antique C1890 Aesthetic Movement Japan Style Stickpin with Org. Velvet Box This circa 1890 Japanese gilt brass stickpin shows the Eastern influence on jewelry design during the Aesthetic Movement of the late 19th century when naturalism and asymmetry were favored. The stickpin’s loosely oval top is ¾" high and a little more than ½" wide and has a dark golden finish over brass. The intentionally oxidized design of clouds is set with three bright rose pink glass cabochons. The characters below may be a form of good luck; I could only translate one as a sort of blessing in modern Chinese (which is related to an older Japan language system used prior to 1900.)

The full height of the stickpin is 2 5/8" and the side of the shaft has a partial stamp of maker’s hallmark which is not decipherable. The stickpin is in lovely condition with no damage and the only wear to the gilding being on the upper part of the pin shaft.

This special accessory comes in a box which itself is a special display item. It is blue velvet with a satin-lined lid showing the jeweler’s name and address. The bottom is a darker blue velvet with a pocket for the stickpin (which could hold other pins too!). It closes with a push clasp, the button is carved mother-of-pearl shell. The box, too, is in super condition with no evidence of wear.

Click for more detail...

Unique Circa 1910 Nouveau Bracelet with Red Glass Cabs & Self Adjusting Clasp This circa 1910 gilt brass and glass bracelet has a unique design combining elements of the Japan influenced Aesthetic Movement with Art Nouveau and it closes with an ingenious self-adjustable chain clasp.

The bracelet measures 6 ¾" in length across the patinated links. Open oval links with whiplash-style curves (particularly evident in the center links) alternate with four-lobed coin-form links. The bracelet is 1/2" at the side links and 1" wide at the center link. Each of these three center links is set with an opaque red glass cabochon (like from Czechoslovakia); the two side stones are a tiny bit darker in hue than the center.

The rare clasp is self-adjusting. When at its widest, the full length of the bracelet is about 8 ¾" long. Once you slide the bracelet on, the two oval glass beads on the ends of the chain fall downward through the law of gravity and cinch the bracelet to suit the wearer! It’s never too tight or too loose and can be worn over a sleeve as well.

Condition is wonderful with no damage and brilliant color on those beads—and both the front and back of this intriguing style bask in their red glow!

The necklace measures 15 ¼" long; each filigree link is 1 ½" long and 5/8" deep and the depth from the top of a filigree link to the tip of a diamond-form glass drop is ¾".

The filigree links have superb, crisp stamping with very fine beaded and geometric detail that you need to be right on top of to appreciate. The rhodium plating assures a bright finish and simulates fine jewelry The Peking glass cabochons and pillow-top, diamond-form stones simulate the best jade in mottled tones.
