Click for more detail...

C1920 Genuine Carved JADE & Gilt Silver Butterfly Pin with Pearl Antenna & Ename This charming vintage Chinese gilt silver butterfly pin has four hand-carved natural jade (or jadeite) wings, genuine pearl antenna tips, and a brilliant cobalt and turquoise enameled body. The butterfly measures 2" high, 1 5/8" wide.

Each jade wing is carved with a decorative motif: three have incised fruits and the lower right wing has a miniature butterfly! Additionally, each also has an incised circle with pierced holes. The jade panels have natural variations in color that range from light lettuce green to a bright mint green to a deep forest. All the panels are held by prongs.

The body of this gorgeous creature is enameled in bright lapis blue and turquoise with white highlighting the curves. The eyes are golden yellow. The antenna tips are pearl beads on gilt wires and the eyes are gilt.

The back of the body is marked "Silver" and the pin is secured with a safety clasp. This beguiling butterfly is in wonderful condition and the variations of color and shape in the wings add to the realism and allure.

Click for more detail...

Dramatic ART DECO Genuine AMETHYST, Sterling Enamel Pendant Necklace This dramatic period Art Deco pendant necklace juxtaposes a genuine lavender amethyst with glossy black enamel on sterling for the high-impact look favored by the flappers of the 1920s. The pendant itself is 1 ¼" high and 7/8"; the height with the fancy pierced bail is 1 11/16".

The oval amethyst is faceted and prong-set. If you look closely at the lower left, you can see natural inclusions or growth lines of the crystal—the equivalent of "beauty marks." The sterling rectangular frame has nipped corners and is finished on the outer edge as well as around the amethyst with a beaded stamped border. The back of the pendant is stamped "Sterling."

The pendant hangs from two lengths of sterling oval chain which create a necklace of inner diameter of about 16 ½" including the spring-ring clasp which is stamped "Sterling." The necklace is in excellent condition and has a striking presence—all the more so since it’s a genuine, untreated, gemstone, not colored glass as was--and is--so often used.

Click for more detail...

Vintage PIDIDDLY LINKS Art Nouveau - Victorian Double Photo Locket Necklace This Victorian style double locket of antiqued brass has an ornately stamped face with a raised prong setting holding a glittering amethyst rhinestone. Crafted by Pididdly Links, the locket measures 1 7/8" high by 1 5/16" wide; the fancy Art Nouveau style curving bail with flower is 5/8" high and 1 5/8" wide and finished with two amethyst crystal bicone beads.

The front of the locket has sensuous fronds and leaves hugging two flowers. The inside reveals two compartments, each with a brass frame and plastic protector and paper insert, for holding photos of 1 ¼" in height. The back of the locket is plain.

Two lengths of novelty bar chain create a necklace of 22 ¼" in circumference which closes with a tube push clasp. The "Pididdly Links / Kingston, N.Y." hang tag is attached. The Pididdly Links company was founded in 1969 by Elsie Pittleman who also created the unique designs fans still collect. The company was known for antique style jewelry of very fine quality; it was sold in the 1990s. This locket is in superb, unworn condition and with care there is no reason why it cannot become a genuine antique!

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item Aqua_Edwardian_Lavaliere_pdt: C1915 Edwardian Genuine AQUAMARINE Filigree Lavaliere Pendant Necklace
Click for more detail...

C1915 Edwardian Genuine AQUAMARINE Filigree Lavaliere Pendant Necklace This very special, circa 1915 lavaliere pendant boasts a large, natural, genuine faceted aquamarine in a lacey Edwardian style mounting suspended from a pierced triangular bail. The pendant alone measures 1" high by 11/16" wide; with the bail, the height is 1 7/8".

The gem’s pronged mounting has very finely stamped foliate and ribbed designs hinting at the Art Deco movement to come. The bail is pierced with horizontal, ribbed bars surmounted by a very brightly faceted flower and leaf design. The two lengths of novelty chain give the necklace a total inner measurement of 16 ¾". The clasp is a fancy filigree folded hook style stamped with the jeweler’s hallmark which appears to be "JHF."

This is a natural, genuine aquamarine gemstone. It has an approximate weight of 11.75 carats, and is 18mm high and 15mm wide. There is one tiny chip on the underside, one very short inclusion, but no cracks, and no scratches. The mounting and chain are rhodium-plated metal.

The size and color make this pendant a rare encounter. During the Belle Époque and Edwardian eras, the aquamarine was favored as its light hue was preferred when set in "white metals" and worn with the filmy and feminine styles of the Bon Ton. Today, genuine aquas of any size are hard to come by. This is an opportunity to possess a bit of the romance of the past in a pendant that is worthy of heirloom care.

Click for more detail...

Antique C1905 EDWARDIAN 10K Rose Gold, Garnet & Pearl Lavaliere Pendant Necklace This dainty circa 1905 Edwardian lavaliere or pendant is made of 10K rose gold and features a delicious rose-cut garnet and genuine pearls. The pendant measures 1 3/8" long (not including bail) by 11/16" wide.

The color of the, collet-set, pear-shaped gem is the favored purple-red of the Almandine variety of garnet, no brown or orange undertones here. The claw-set natural pearl above is quite baroque in shape. The one below is nearly perfectly round with gorgeous luster. The pendant is not marked but tests positive as 10K gold. I have supplied it with an old stock, never worn, 18" long gold-filled chain with spring-ring clasp (tab is stamped "CA Co. 1/20 12K GF"). The necklace is in wonderful condition and has the quintessential look of Edwardian period pendants worn during the Belle Époque.

Vintage VICTORIAN REVIVAL Gold-Filled, Taille D'Epargne Enamel BAR PIN This vintage gold-filled bar pin is elaborately etched with heart-shaped scrolls enameled in the taille d’epargne manner over a background of finely engraved, tiny scattered leaves. The unusually long pin measures 3" long by ½" wide and has a domed top surface.

The pin has a safety clasp and it is signed "1-20 10K G. F. P.S. Co." This company started operations in the 1880’s and while this lovely bar pin has a Victorian style I do believe that it is Victorian Revival and probably dates to the 1940’s. It is in super condition with no signs of wear.

Click for more detail...

ART NOUVEAU Victorian Sash Pin Brooch with LG Topaz Glass Jewel This Victorian period sash pin or brooch has a simple Art Nouveau style with four flowers joined by leafy garlands within a modified oval frame which holds a very intensely colored topaz glass jewel.

The brooch measures 3 ¼" wide by 2 ¼" high. The faceted, molded glass jewel is 1 ¼" wide and held by prongs that are part of the stamped body. The color of the stone is rich and the glass is free of bubbles, scratches, and cracks.

The brooch has the C-clasp style closure on the pin, common before 1900. The finish on the front is a soft and lustrous silver plate and the back shows more of the natural oxidation of time. Such larger pieces were once worn on wide sashes at the waist and today are very suitable for jacket or coat collars, sweaters, hats, heavier cloth shirts, or even on ribbons as chokers for the truly fashion forward lady with a taste for styles of bygone days.

Click for more detail...

C1915 Tri Color Engraved ART DECO Rectangular Double Photo Locket Necklace This fancy tricolor metal circa 1915 locket was the Art Deco girl’s version of a Victorian keepsake updated with a rectangular shape and, guilloche’ or engine-turned engraving.
The silver, cheery yellow-gold, and rose-gold color of the front is vertically engraved with wavy bands on the left and right panels and diagonal straight and zigzag stripes across the center field. In the upper right is a rectangular panel outline ideal for a monogram (never used).

The locket can hold two photos, each measuring 1 ½: by 1" under the rims of the brass-color inside. Or you can certainly use it to hold a special love note or even blotting papers in the old romantic style. The interior is stamped SOB Co on each side; this mark belonged to SO Bigney & Co.of Attleboro, Massachusetts. The back of the locket is a yellow gold color with pairs of vertical engraved bands. The locket is in wonderful condition with only light surface wear. It comes on a 17 1 /4" long rose gold-filled rolo chain with tube push-clasp.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item Amethyst_Tablets_SS_Filigree_Necklace: Superb Circa 1920 Necklace of Large Genuine Amethyst Tablets & Sterling Filigree
Click for more detail...

Superb Circa 1920 Necklace of Large Genuine Amethyst Tablets & Sterling Filigree This very unusual circa 1920 necklace combines delicate Edwardian "white metal" sterling filigree with bold and simple Art Deco cut tablets for a memorable design. All the more rare is the fact that the tablets are not glass but genuine amethyst quartz.

The necklace is 16" long and the tablets measure ½" wide and 3/16" deep. Each pillow-form amethyst square has rounded corners and shows the natural variation of color of the stone. These variations give each stone true character—so much more interesting than the watery, pale and consistent color one normally finds. The amethysts are prong-set in raised, pierced basket mountings.

The filigree panels have exceedingly fine stampings complete with tiny beaded details around the borders. One is marked "Sterling" with a partial jeweler’s hallmark on the reverse.

The chain links, too, have a beaded design on the long and short links. They close with a spring-ring clasp stamped "Sterling." This special necklace is in superb condition (even the backs of the amethyst tablets are all polished smooth). It came from a local estate, from the original owner’s daughter, and probably has not been worn in many years.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item Victorian_GF_Dbl_Locket_Bookchain_necklace: SUPERB C1875 VICTORIAN Two Color GF Double Photo Locket on Book Chain Necklace
Click for more detail...

SUPERB C1875 VICTORIAN Two Color GF Double Photo Locket on Book Chain Necklace This is an outstanding Victorian double photo locket with double interior compartments and an equally noteworthy ornate two-color gold-filled book-chain link necklace with tiers of links that make it a unique jewel unto itself.

The dimensional chain is 19 ¼" long, ½" wide, and 3/16" thick. The oval links are yellow with polished rims and centers over ribbed backgrounds. The alternating geometric links are rose pink tone with polished lattice designs. The under-layer is composed of angled, ribbed, yellow-tone oval rings. The necklace closes with an old-style rose-tone spring ring which not only secures the chain but holds the bail of the locket too.

Oval in shape, the locket has an impressive size at 11/2" in height (not including bail), 1" in width, and 5/8" in depth. The central ornament has a rose-pink, polished diamond panel above and below and is cinched with an engraved rose, domed band (into which one could even slip a few thin flower stems!). The bloomed yellow gold matte finish of the exterior of the locket is contrasted with a polished raised band (on the back too) and is edged in another raised band simulating rope links.

Inside is a delightful surprise: two compartments each containing their original frames, waffle-print paper liners, and glass inserts. Both will hold a photo measuring 1 5/16" by 13/16".

The chain and locket date to about 1875 and are in wonderful condition. I have not polished them as I believe original patina should be left on antique jewelry. Both functional and fabulously feminine, this Victorian sentimental locket is an heirloom-quality jewel.

This is a store "Special" and does not qualify for further discount, however, most shop items do. New pieces arrive each day so please take time for a browse!

Click for more detail...

Antique ARTS & CRAFTS Pierced Sterling & Sodalite Pendant Necklace This sleek and sensuous hand-cut and pierced Arts & Crafts sterling pendant is inset with an oval cabochon of opaque deep blue/cream gemstone, probably sodalite. This circa 1900 pendant is 2 1/8" long and has raised centers in the scrolls above and below the gemstone, hand-hammered from the back. "Sterling" is stamped on the reverse.

I added a 26" twisted, interwoven link sterling chain with spring-hook clasp. The tab is stamped marked "Milor, B&B, Made in Italy" on the two sides. The pendant and chain are in excellent condition; I have left the finish of the pedant as found as collectors often prefer this. The piece is distinctive and speaks very strongly to the time when hand-crafted silver jewelry featuring the bounty of nature’s more unusual gemstones was prized, as it still is, a century later.

Click for more detail...

Exquisite BOHEMIAN Rose-Cut GARNET Tear Drop Earrings Do you adore fine, old Bohemian red garnets? Here, their saturated color is featured in elegant drop earrings. These circa 1920 earrings are bead-set with rose-cut Almandine garnets encircling a pear-shaped center stone.
Each earrings is 1" long (and the front is all garnet, the fittings are completely concealed behind!) and almost ½" wide. The color is the most desirable dark red with a hint of purple—just luscious! Not so dark that you can’t tell you are looking at garnets and clearly with a purple hue to the pear stones. (Image of the back-lit earring is dark but shows the underlying tone.) The adjustable screw fittings are comfy and understated so from the front you appear to be wearing pierced earrings.

These beauties are not marked but have tested slightly lower than 10K gold, thus, they may be European as 8K and 9K gold standards were used there in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The earrings are in superb condition and are so flattering in shape and color on any woman.

These earrings can be purchased on layaway, just drop me a line!
