Art Deco 1930's White Gold-Filled & Cut Crystal, Multi Tiered Necklace Exceptional clarity in the cut lead-crystal chatons, a unique tiered pendant design and WHITE gold-filled settings make this circa 1930 Art Deco necklace quite special. The front section is 2" wide and 2 ¼" deep with draped chains of crystal on each side of the large pear-cut center stone. Five drops of crystal chain hang below, the center is set with a large chaton. All the stones are in prong-set in cups, open-backed, and reflect brilliantly. The total length is 14 1/2" and the clasp is a fancy box style with prong-set stones; it is stamped on the side "1/20 12K G.F." This glittering Flapper Era necklace is in excellent condition.

Click for more detail...
Antique Chinese Silver Gilt, Cloisonne' & Gems Filigree Fingernail Guard Pin This fabulously ornate early 20th century Chinese gilt silver brooch is based on the very old, traditional use of fingernail jewelry. Yes! In earlier centuries, the wealthy Chinese grew long nails to show they did not engage in manual labor and such luxuriously ornamented jewels were used to protect the nails.

Today, this captivating curiosity makes a gorgeous lapel or hat pin and serves beautifully as a flower vase. The brooch is 3 3/8" long, 5/8" wide at the top and about ¾" deep. The gilt silver body is made of ultra fine filigree wires overlaid with wide wires in delicate scrolls. The cloisonné enamel leaves are filled in luminous shades of jade green, turquoise, and amethyst. Natural coral and turquoise cabochons are bezel-set and form a dramatic line down the center of the brooch. Under magnification, I see three tiny skips in the enamel on the sides; they are not at all evident. The wirework is amazing and in excellent condition. The gems are in lovely condition and the gilding is intact. The back of the brooch has an applied tag stamped "silver" on the upper edge of the center back seam and a safety clasp pin. Perfect for a single larger flower or a small bouquet (you may wrap them in a moist paper towel for longevity), this circa 1910 Chinese brooch is a fascinating historical heirloom that can be appreciated for its practicality and beauty.

Click for more detail...
Double Strand Vintage JADE Beads Choker with Art Deco Chrysoprase Clasp This special necklace is composed of two strands of carefully matched, natural green jade beads which meet at an Art Deco sterling and gemstone clasp. The longer strand measures about 14 ¾" (including clasp), thus, making this a choker length style. The natural crystalline structure of the jade beads is evident in the color changes which range from white, to a clean light green, to the highly desirable Imperial emerald green/apple color. The beads are 9mm in diameter and uniform in size. The clasp itself is 3/4" long and has a sterling silver box frame inset with a translucent deep green stone which appears to be chrysoprase. The box clasp is stamped "Sterling" on the back. I might suggest a safety tab or chain as the beads are rather weighty. The jade beads are strung on two lengths of a white cord which appears to be very strong. The color is truly lovely and the style is timeless.

Click for more detail...
Lovely Bigney Gold-Filled Victorian - Edwardian Bangle with Amethyst and Pearls This circa 1905 transitional Victorian to Edwardian hinged bangle bracelet by G.O. Bigney shows off a facetted amethyst gem or paste accented by two half seed pearls in an ornate oval centerpiece. The diameter of the bracelet across the width of the oval is 2 ¼"; the width of the hollow band is 5/16" and the front ornament is 1" high. The facetted oval amethyst is hugged above and below by a pair of slightly green-gold leaves and tendrils, each set with a natural half-pearl. The front of the bangle’s band has an engine-turned pattern of waves; the back portion is smooth. A concealed clasp secures the bangle nearly invisibly and very securely. Stamped on the inside is "S. O. Bigney & Co." an Attleboro, Massachusetts company known for fine quality gold-filled jewelry. This lovely antique bangle is in excellent condition with no dents or damage and no scratches on chips on the jewel. It has an ornate yet refined elegance and thanks to the oval band shape the jewels will stay top and center on your wrist.

Click for more detail...
Large, Triple-Carved Three Graces Shell Cameo in Ornate Frame A trio of classical beauties called the "Three Graces" is carved masterfully into this antique shell cameo brooch. Set into a frame measuring 2 3/8" by 1 ¾", the cameo carver cleverly used the different layers of the shell’s coloring to differentiate the lovely ladies from the background and to further differentiate the spice-tone foreground and the floral garland from the figural carvings. This triple-carved detail is best admired up close: the ruffles on the gowns, expressive faces, fancy coiffures, and the diaphanous sheer folds of fabric. The frame’s bezel is ornamented with a complex silver-plated filigree and ball border and a wire-twist rim. The silver compliments the grey hue of the shell’s background; this background is also somewhat translucent so the color of the underlying fabric tints it as well! The pin back secures with a C-clasp. The cameo is in excellent, undamaged condition and has the large size and quality of carving that make it heirloom worthy. Enjoy!

Click for more detail...
Period ARTS & CRAFTS .935 Silver Ring with Large Malachite Cabochon I am always thrilled to find authentic, period Arts & Crafts jewelry and this bold ring is an extra treat thanks to the size and the unique malachite cabochon. The ring has a domed front which measures 1" in diameter by 5/8" wide. The malachite cabochon has fantastic color veining, centered extremely well within the bezel setting. The side of the deep setting has V-points and leaves with textured finishes. From the underside you realize the mounting was made in two levels which were interwoven and soldered at the tips of the V-points—quite a laborious process and beautifully executed. Size is 8 ½--quite wearable on many a woman’s index finger. The inside of the band is stamped ".935" which indicates a higher purity of silver than sterling and a European jeweler. This circa 1900 Arts & Crafts antique ring is in excellent condition and has a striking naturalistic design that will endure.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item Gibson_Girl_SS_Cameo: C1900 Victorian Gibson Girl Cameo in Sterling Filigree Heart Band Frame
Click for more detail...
C1900 Victorian Gibson Girl Cameo in Sterling Filigree Heart Band Frame This Victorian "Gibson Girl" style shell cameo brooch depicts a gorgeous young woman with an enviable full head of naturally wavy locks. The carnelian shell cameo is 1 3/8" high and is bezel-mounted within a frame of the most intricate band of filigree hearts! Even the side ornaments—resembling butterfly wings—and the top and bottom inserts are filigree. And I love how the portrait completely fills the frame—the artist certainly made beautiful use of the shell and gives us much to admire. Her wide collar drapes fluidly around her neck and shoulders and is adorned with a cluster of blossoms on her left shoulder. The frame is not marked but tests as sterling purity. The pin is secured with a safety clasp. As you can see, the condition of the shell cameo is pristine and she is unquestionably a beauty!
