Click for more detail...
Bold Mid-Century Modernist Sterling & Rosewood Cuff Bracelet If you like noteworthy modernist silver jewelry, you’ll appreciate this mid-century sterling and rosewood cuff bracelet. The rounded rectangle of polished rosewood is set in a wire-twist frame of entwined smooth and beaded strands. This plaque measures just under 2" high and is 1 ½" wide. The cuff sits securely on the wrist thanks to the heavy gauge of the looping base which is 1 ¼" at its widest and has an inner diameter of 2 1/8". The back of the silver plaque is stamped "Sterling." The cuff has a Mexican feeling to it and would blend wonderfully with any Modernist wood and silver accessories. It is in very fine condition.

Click for more detail...
Gorgeous LOS BALLESTEROS Sterling & Abalone Hinged Cuff This amazing vintage Los Ballesteros sterling silver hinged cuff bracelet is precisely inlaid with scores of tiles of prismatic abalone shell which highlight the intricate scrolled design to perfection. The bracelet is 3 1/8" high at the front and tapers to 1" at the back hinge. The cuff can be worn with a slight overlap of the front panels or with a space between them; it comfortably adjusts to the wearer. With the scrolls at front just touching, the inner diameter is 7". The condition is superb with no missing abalone and no dents. On the hinge are the hallmark of the studio with "Talleres de Los Ballesteros" (the text after that appears to be: Liguala Cro") and the "Hecho en Mexico 925" stamp. The cuff retains some oxidation on the interior; I will let the new owner choose to polish or not. The condition of this vintage Los Ballesteros sterling cuff is superb with no missing abalone and no dents. And the impact is impressive!

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item Villasana_Wings_Necklace_Bracelet: Stunning ALFREDO VILLASANA Mid-Century Mexican Sterling WINGS Necklace & Bracelet
Click for more detail...
Stunning ALFREDO VILLASANA Mid-Century Mexican Sterling WINGS Necklace & Bracelet This fabulous mid 20th century sterling demi-parure was made by Alfredo Villasana, one of the most respected of Taxco’s silversmiths. The necklace is centered by an impressive pair of facing wings approximately 4 1/8" wide and 2" deep. Smaller wings form the other eight links and bring the total inner diameter of the necklace to about 15". The look is very substantial yet not overly weighty as the links are hollow. They are also slightly curved upward so they lay on the neck naturally. The necklace is stamped with Alfredo Villasana’s hallmark within a circle and the eagle 31 assay mark (partial) as well as the Villasana name. The clasp is a unique hook with flared ends which very securely grips the adjoining link and forms a nearly invisible closure.

The matching bracelet is 7 3/8" long and alternates the 7/8" wide feathers in opposite directions. It has a simple hook and loop clasp and is signed on the back. I am also including a single earring, similar to one bracelet link—useful should you want to create a brooch or adjust the length of either piece. This set, with the patina as I received it, is in enviable, undented condition and will really catch the eyes of your admirers.

Alfredo Villasana, was a master jeweler who worked with Spratling and Aguilar in their workshops before starting his own. From his own workshop in Taxco, he created gorgeous silver jewelry and is today recognized as one of the silver maestros of Mexico.

This is an estate consignment item.

Click for more detail...
1940's Sterling Airmail Bird Pin with Special Delivery Letter A most delightful little messenger bird delivers an important letter personally by "airmail" in this 1940’s sterling silver pin. The little robin (or is she a passenger pigeon?) is 1 ¾" long and about ¾" wide. The detail of the wings and tiny envelope are quite deep so all will be sure to see. The back of the casting is marked "Silver" and "Mexico" (partial stamp) and the pin has a safety clasp. The bird tests as sterling purity; during WWII, many pieces of jewelry were made in sterling. Often American manufacturers such as Coro had their designs produced in Mexico so American machinery could be put to use for the war. In very fine condition, this feathered letter carrier is a most enduring way to get your message noticed!
