Click for more detail...

Vintage Carved Gemstone SCARAB Beetle Pin with Sterling Roses & Leaves Setting This vintage carved blue gemstone scarab beetle is set in a pretty oval frame of sterling silver rose buds and leaves. The unusual design is 1 ¼" wide by 15/16" high and 5/16" deep.

The scarab is hand0carved carved of what appears to be lapis lazuli and is set in a beaded bezel mounting. The rosebuds are all hand-formed as are the sterling leaves and soldered to an oval frame. This frame is not marked but tests as sterling. The pin shank is secured with a C-clasp. I would date the piece to about 1910 and it is in wonderful condition and merges the exoticism of Egypt with the eternal beauty and romance of roses. This lovely pin can also be worn as a pendant when hung vertically on a ribbon or chain with a bit of thickness to offset the width of the clasp and add some importance worthy of the handcrafted bijoux.

Click for more detail...

C1920 Edwardian / DECO Sterling Color-Change Faux ALEXANDRITE Crystal Pendant This beautiful circa 1920 late Edwardian – Art Deco sterling silver pendant necklace has a secret that reveals itself as you move through different types of light: the cut-crystal stone is a synthetic alexandrite that changes color!

The strongly Cubist style of the frame around the crystal measures ¾" by 5/8" and the total height of the pendant including the elaborate pierced filigree ornament above is 1 7/8".

I photographed the pendant on black so you could see the fine, lacy detail of the rhodium-plated filigree and the white beads. These photos were done in the equivalent of full-spectrum (sunlight) light and show the blue topaz color of the crystal. Under fluorescent lighting, the crystal, which has a faceted back as well, has a lavender hue as seen on the white background.

Each 8 1/4" chain on the necklace is accented with three milky glass beads. They meet at a spring-ring clasp stamped "Sterling" and the necklace has a total inner measurement of 17 ¼". This eternally feminine necklace is in wonderful condition and is not only elegant, but entertaining!

The size 8 ring has a stylish twist diagonal band which holds the bezel setting for the cut-crystal which is securely hugged by four fancy prongs.

The Uncas arrow-through-U hallmark and "Sterling" are stamped on the inside of the ring. This vintage ring is in super condition with no wear to the stone. And that stone’s hue will get you the looks!

Finely Detailed DANECRAFT Sterling Oak Leaves & Acorns Necklace This Danecraft sterling silver necklace is a continuous line of oak leaves and acorns which form a neck-flattering garland 15 5/8" long. Click here to enlarge image and see more about item SS_Blck_Tubes_Hinged_Bangle: Wide STERLING & Black LUCITE Acrylic 3-Layer Tubular Hinged Bangle
Click for more detail...

Wide STERLING & Black LUCITE Acrylic 3-Layer Tubular Hinged Bangle This unusual vintage hinged bangle bracelet sandwiches a glossy black tube of acrylic or Lucite between two polished tubes of sterling silver for a bold bangle that won’t go unnoticed! The bangle measures 7/8" wide and has an inner diameter of 2 ¼". The black tube is slight recessed below the silver ones so you can’t knock it The sterling tubes are approximately 6mm thick and are very strong—they don’t bend or flex.

I am guessing the material of the black tube is a type of plastic, yet it is not carved but has no seams. It could be any of several hard plastics; I don’t think it is enamel over silver as there are no chips or flow lines and the tube has a different temperature than the sterling. All the tube ends at the hinges and opening are finished with textured caps. By the clasp are two stamps, one reads "925" and facing the other direction the mark is a star and 65 with P5 I believe, which is probably the jeweler’s hallmark.

A fold-over/snap clasp reliably secures the bracelet on the wrist. The noteworthy and highly versatile bangle is in very fine condition with no damage.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item Danecraft_SS_Amethyst_Xtal_Set: Old Stock DANECRAFT Primavera Sterling & Amethyst Crystal Set with Tags
Click for more detail...

Old Stock DANECRAFT Primavera Sterling & Amethyst Crystal Set with Tags This remarkable vintage Danecraft sterling set features all the pieces a lady could want to accessorize with the allure of amethyst simulants. Each pieces is sterling silver (with a protective shield which has prevented oxidation for decades) and features amethyst-color, cut-crystal stones of flawless, rich color.

The big six-link bracelet is 7 ¼" long, 1 ¼" wide, and 3/8" deep. Each facetted oval faux amethyst is nearly ¾" high! The open-work, filigree mounts rise upward to focus attention on the lucky wrist. The bracelet has a fold-over clasp (marked as shown) with a safety chain/spring-ring reinforcement. The embossed foil booklet tag shows the original price of this Primavera Creation as $36.

The ring has a filigree mounting about 1" tall and ½" deep; the crystal is ½" high. The shank is stamped "Sterling" on the inside and is currently a size 7 1/2 but can be adjusted, I would guess up to a size 10.

The earrings are 1 1/8" high and the amethyst crystals are ½" high and set in fancy dog-tooth prongs. The screw-back findings are stamped "Danecraft Sterling, 1/20 12K G.F." The earrings came on the green flocked card and the hand-written price on the reverse is $8.

The Rococo styled brooch/pendant measures 1 ¾" high, 1 5/8" wide, and ½" deep. The amethyst crystal is nearly 1" high. The brooch has a safety clasp and can be worn on a chain or ribbon thanks to the long hook finding. It is marked "Danecraft Sterling" on the applied oval plaque and the original booklet tag shows the price as $15.

The set comes with several tags as the original owner, a collector of high-end costume jewelry who hardly ever wore her treasures, saved them. All pieces are in excellent unworn condition.

AKSEL HOLMSEN Norway Sterling Butterfly Pin with Guilloche' Enamel A bright orange-red butterfly with white body shows the intricacies of its wings in guilloche enamel on sterling in this vintage Aksel Holmsen design. The butterfly measures just under 1" wide and is ½" high. The wings angle towards the body and have finely executed circles, dots and loops under the translucent enamel. The body has horizontal ribs, the eyes are black enamel, and the antennae are gilt sterling.

The back of the butterfly is also gilt and has several hallmarks including "Norway, Sterling, 925S" and the symbolic hallmark of Aksel Holmsen used before 1970. The butterfly is in excellent condition.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item Euro_Enamel_SS_Basket_Pin: European ART DECO Sterling & Enamel Basket Pin with Crystals
Click for more detail...

European ART DECO Sterling & Enamel Basket Pin with Crystals This special circa 1930 Art Deco flower basket brooch is made of sterling silver and set with dazzling rhinestones or pastes in several sizes. The oval border, filled with glossy jet black enamel, measures 2" by 1 ¼". The basket has an airy open design of ribs with a pave’ stone-set base. The basket handle, rim, and flowers are bright with stones.

Note the careful layered construction on the back of the pin. The reverse is stamped ".925" somewhat closed on the 9 but I tested and it is at least sterling purity of .925 and could be .935--a German standard higher than sterling. The pin shaft secures with a safety clasp and the condition of the piece is excellent.

The style and quality recall European pieces but regardless of origin, this is a period piece with a timeless allure.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item Amethyst_Tablets_SS_Filigree_Necklace: Superb Circa 1920 Necklace of Large Genuine Amethyst Tablets & Sterling Filigree
Click for more detail...

Superb Circa 1920 Necklace of Large Genuine Amethyst Tablets & Sterling Filigree This very unusual circa 1920 necklace combines delicate Edwardian "white metal" sterling filigree with bold and simple Art Deco cut tablets for a memorable design. All the more rare is the fact that the tablets are not glass but genuine amethyst quartz.

The necklace is 16" long and the tablets measure ½" wide and 3/16" deep. Each pillow-form amethyst square has rounded corners and shows the natural variation of color of the stone. These variations give each stone true character—so much more interesting than the watery, pale and consistent color one normally finds. The amethysts are prong-set in raised, pierced basket mountings.

The filigree panels have exceedingly fine stampings complete with tiny beaded details around the borders. One is marked "Sterling" with a partial jeweler’s hallmark on the reverse.

The chain links, too, have a beaded design on the long and short links. They close with a spring-ring clasp stamped "Sterling." This special necklace is in superb condition (even the backs of the amethyst tablets are all polished smooth). It came from a local estate, from the original owner’s daughter, and probably has not been worn in many years.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item Isis_Egyt_Goddess_Sterling_Necklace: Vintage Sterling Silver ISIS Egyptian Goddess Necklace with Turquoise Cabochon
Click for more detail...

Vintage Sterling Silver ISIS Egyptian Goddess Necklace with Turquoise Cabochon This mystical sterling silver pendant depicts the Egyptian Goddess Isis with outspread wings holding a turquoise cabochon aloft. The pendant is 1 ¾" high and 1 ½" wide; the natural turquoise cabochon is about 5mm.

Isis has very wide wings with stamped feathers that meet the hinged bail at their tips. The pendant is stamped "Sterling" on the back.
The swinging bail hangs from an 18" long sterling chain with spring-ring clasp stamped "Sterling." The necklace is in lovely condition and adds a mysteriously feminine accent to your jewelry wardrobe.

Isis was revered for both her loving and motherly nature but also for her magical and deceitful powers. She used these against, Ra, the Sun God to both poison and later save him and also to resurrect her husband, Osiris, who had been drowned by his brother. Isis is worshipped today in Egypt and much of the world and is a patroness of women, mothers, children, magic, medicine, and the Ritual of Life.
