Luscious, Large Art Nouveau Style Blue Glass Jewel in Berries & Leaves Frame Penda This circa 1920 pendant features a large, transparent blue facetted glass jewel within a window created by a bezel frame overgrown with berries and vines—how charming! The pendant is 2 ¼" high, 1 7/16" wide, and 5/16" deep. The leaves and berries have a soft, burnished appearance with hints of gold; their antique appearance is enhanced by the matte finish silver-tone chain. One facetted, bezel-set blue glass stone is mounted above the large jewel and one is mounted below. The reverse of the pendant is open-backed and shows hints of gold. The chain is 18" and closes with a spring-ring clasp. Very Art Nouveau in character and certainly a bold piece in size and color!

Superb EDWARDIAN Sterling Guilloche Enamel Sash Pin in Lilac & White This exquisitely detailed Edwardian sterling guilloche’ sash buckle brooch is crisply enameled in soft lilac and white. The 3" wide oval displays several patterns on the engine-turned base: floating ovals, fan-shaped palmettes, and parallel ribs. The clever design even includes the clasp tongue, in silver, which is soldered on the left end only to allow your garment’s fabric to show directly beneath. The back of the sash brooch is gilt gold on "Sterling" as marked. (I polished it lightly so as not to disturb the gilding.) The pin shaft secures with a C-clasp. This circa 1910 enameled beauty has impressive size, the quality is superb, the condition perfect.

Click for more detail...
Exquisite Antique Silver & Carved Red Coral Maenad Bacchus Maiden Clip An exquisite portrait of a Bacchanalian Maenad (a female worshiper) is captured in natural red coral and set in silver in this circa 1890 clip. The clip measures 1" wide by 7/8" high and the carved, high-relief portrait is 3/8" deep. The woman’s face is framed in pierced leaves and grapes. It has very fine color, sharp details, and a pleasant surface luster. This carving has a small area of light color on the left side, it is not damage and the material does test as genuine coral. The detail rivals that found in the finest cameos and the coral likely originated in Italy, the center of 19th century cameo carvers.

The silver frame holds the coral carving securely; the bold cylinders at the top give the clip a strong impact. The solid back of the clip has two hallmarks, one appears to be "EDV" and the other is indistinct. The silver tests as slightly less than sterling and has a consistent color throughout. The casting was crisp and the clip itself has a reliable mechanism. The clip is beautifully made, in excellent condition, and is ideal to wear as a pendant on with your choice of a ribbon, chain or strand of pearls.

The Roman God Bacchus (Greek God Dionysus) was the god of wine and mystery and honored at wild parties, or Bacchanalian Feasts. The maidens – Maenads or Bacchantes) drank, ate, and played with abandon in worship of the god. To say they were party girls is to put it mildly and their legend lives on in thousands of years of story and fine art.

Click for more detail...
Edwardian CAMPHOR Glass Pendant with Red Stone, Sterling Setting & Chain The beloved Edwardian camphor glass pendant was given a chic twist in this model which has a sterling silver filigree setting, a ruby red rhinestone in its center, and bead-accented chain. The octagonal pendant is 1 1/16" long and ¾" wide; the fancy cut-work bale is itself ½" high (it’s wide enough that you can slide a thicker chain or a ribbon through.) The 17" long chain has two stations of beads with a crystal bicone between two opal/milk glass orbs. The spring-ring clasp is stamped "sterling." A tasteful and feminine choice for a woman of any age, this delicate circa 1920 necklace is in wonderful condition.

Click for more detail...
Antique C1900 Sterling & Sodalite Edwardian Transitional Pin This circa 1900 cast sterling silver pin is set with three half-domes of sodalite or similar hard gemstone in a airy, scroll-work motif that reflects a transition from the more naturalistic Art Nouveau to the increasingly elaborate Edwardian influences in design. The pin is 2 /5/8" wide and 1 ¼" high. Bead-edge curves and applied bosses (balls) enhance the lacy effect of the filigree. The pin shaft (which may not be sterling) secures with a C clasp. There are no markings and the pin tests as at least .925 sterling in silver purity though it could be higher. It is in wonderful condition and has a pleasing patina which highlights the fine detail

Click for more detail...
C1890 ARTS & CRAFTS Sterling Bar Pin with Large Faceted AMETHYST This circa 1890 sterling bar pin balances tapering spirals of silver on either side of a large faceted amethyst gemstone. The pin measures 2 3/8" wide and 11/16" high. The pale lilac amethyst has an approximate weight of 7.6 carats and no eye-visible inclusions. The soft shade makes the pin a near-neutral jewel and the unique design—reminiscent of the popular Victorian entwined snakes love motif-- lends an almost Celtic feeling. The pin shaft secures with a C-clasp. This poetic antique bar pin is in excellent condition.

Click for more detail...
Splendid Edwardian Sterling Filigree Bracelet with Topaz & Crystal Glass Jewels This intricate Edwardian period sterling filigree bracelet is set with three dazzling topaz color baguettes and crystal chaton rhinestones. The bracelet is 5/16" wide 7" long. There are three unfoiled baguettes, set open-backed, and four foiled chatons, set closed-back. The chatons have just a tiny bit of darkening, not really evident at all. The bracelet has a sleek push-clasp, stamped "Sterling" on the reverse, which nearly disappears into the design when closed. This circa 1910 bracelet is in very fine condition and will be appreciated well into the next century.

Realistically Detailed Arts & Crafts Sterling Silver Figural Pansy Pin This period Arts & Craft, hand-made sterling pansy pin has such realism that you can almost feel the hand of the jeweler in its petals. This perky blossom measures 1 ¼" high by 1 5/16" wide. Each petal has been hand-tooled with tiny ribs to capture the natural look of the pansy. It has a safety clasp back and is signed "HANDMADE Sterling " (somewhat obscured). I have chosen not to polish it as the patina accentuates the fine detail of this circa 1920 Arts & Crafts pin. She’s a very happy flower!
