A most delightful little messenger bird delivers an important letter personally by "airmail" in this 1940’s sterling silver pin. The little robin (or is she a passenger pigeon?) is 1 ¾" long and about ¾" wide. The detail of the wings and tiny envelope are quite deep so all will be sure to see. The back of the casting is marked "Silver" and "Mexico" (partial stamp) and the pin has a safety clasp. The bird tests as sterling purity; during WWII, many pieces of jewelry were made in sterling. Often American manufacturers such as Coro had their designs produced in Mexico so American machinery could be put to use for the war. In very fine condition, this feathered letter carrier is a most enduring way to get your message noticed!
