This fabulous vintage gold/butterscotch Bakelite carved horse brooch has applied red gimp harness, chain reins, and a translucent glass eye! Talk about accessorized! The charming sculpture is 3 1/8" wide and 3 1/8" high. The Bakelite has faint swirls (more evident by back-lighting) which add to the rich color. The hand-painted details on the harness and face are a charming touch. The brass reins appear to be a replacement; no doubt the original gimp was too fragile to endure swinging all these years. The silver-tone pin closes with a safety clasp. The carving is sharp, the condition is wonderful, this is an elegant equine brooch!
