| This vintage sterling silver snake bracelet is made of a firm, yet bendable, mesh with sheet silver tail and gem-set head. The bracelet is about 3/16" wide at the mesh portion and about ½" wide where the head and tail bypass. Total length is 8 1/2". The mesh is ultra fine—you need magnification to see the tiny loops of the weave-- and it molds to fit your wrist and is easily put on and removed. The head is set with two carnelian cabochon eyes and a large green cabochon at the crest which I believe is aventurine—it has tiny mottled specs and flashes of foil-like inclusions. And she/he has an open mouth that I prefer to think of as smiling! "Silver" is stamped on the back of the head and the bracelet does test as at least sterling purity. This early 20th century bejeweled silver serpent is in splendid condition. |
