This period Art Deco enameled butterfly necklace is made of brass links finished in cream, aqua and cobalt blue. The butterfly measures 1 ˝" across and 1" deep and has pierced wings as well as dainty antennae which curve above the body. The folded links have strong ribbed and sunburst stampings and form a chain with a total length of just under 16" including the large brass spring-ring clasp.

The enamel is very good condition overall; the reverse shows just two links that were not completely covered when new. Even the butterfly is entirely enameled on the reverse. This type of stamping and enamel was popular in Europe, especially Germany, more so than the US, prior to WWII. The necklace is feminine yet has the strength of modern 1930’s design. A delightful Deco find!
