This vintage brooch by the English firm of A. Hill and Co. of England, under their Miracle line, captures the romance of ancient Scottish agate jewelry in realistically colored glass and antiqued gold-plated metal. The rounded square measures 1 ¾" across and about 3/8" deep.

The pierced center is domed and simulates the cords of an elaborate knot. Quatre-foil open designs are cast in the center as well as in the four bars separating the curved glass panels. These panels meld translucent tan, amber, and carnelian tones in beveled-edge inserts.
The back of the brooch reveals decorative castings and the "Miracle" signature. The pin has a safety clasp. The brooch is in super condition and truly has the look of a fine Scottish agate antique jewel.
