A large face and thick turquoise matrix nugget give strong personality to this vintage Native American Indian ring. The round front is 1 1/8" wide and ¼" deep. The "shadowbox" oxidation provides a black background for the wire-twist rope which encircles the bezel-set nugget. The nugget is polished and reveals the natural veins of the gemstone; the color is a light turquoise aqua.
The perimeter of the setting is cast with oxidized symbolic snakes and has a half-dome on one side, perhaps suggesting the snake’s head. The ring is not signed but tests as sterling silver purity. The ring shank is split at the front and merges to a single, broader width at the back. It is size 8 ½ and is in very fine condition.
The ring is part of a collection of older pieces I purchased from a family whose senior members traveled west each year and purchased hand-crafted Native American jewelry. Please see the other Native American jewelry pieces in my shop.
